Winter wasn't sure what happened. All he knew was that he had been fighting, and then he heard voices in his head. But he knew they were other voices, like he was reading their mind. He had had a feeling this was a spell, but he wasn't sure who cast it. Then, after like, a minute, there was a bright light, and he was suddenly in the ice kingdom. He had wanted to stay, or his mind had anyway, but his heart wanted something else. Somone else. Moon.
Winter flew, as fast as he could, toward the kingdom of sand. As he passed over the great ice cliff, he remembered coming here with Hailstorm.
Does Moon think I left her? No, I would never! I need to get to her.
The thought of her made him fly faster, even as it began to rain.
It rains in the desert?
He passed over Queen Thorn's palace, and thought of the ice kingdom, and his family. As he flew his mind flicked between Moon, and his other friends.
He aimed for a spot on the sand, and landed. He shook his wet wings, and began to walk. He wished he could fly, but he was approaching the scorpion den. He couldn't be seen, especially by Qibli's grandfather.
Qibli!
Winter missed Qibli, and Kinkajou, and Turtle, and even Peril a bit. They were his family, his new tribe. And he loved them. He sometimes wished he didn't like them, but he was getting over that.
But one dragon kept circling his mind as he walked on.
Moon. I wish I could tell her how I feel, but there's probably no need for that. She probably already heard it in my mind. Well, I guess I hinted at in the RainWing village.
Winter wasn't sure how much longer he could walk, his talons were sore. He looked back, and saw the scorpion den far behind him. He was able to see jade mountain now, and he felt his heart fluttering.
Moon! And the others!
He took off to fly.
He hoped they were safe. He really hoped that Moon was OK...
He flew faster and faster at the thought of them. Of her.
As he began to see the school, he slowed down. He was just preparing to land, when a SandWing attacked him.
