———————————————————>~Alice
The amount of cars that are parked in the lot surprised me since it has been a desert for the past week I had started tutoring Adam. But once I heard the whistle blowing on the soccer field, I immediately put two to two together and realized that practices are being held for soccer. I sandwiched my old car between two new convertibles.
With this being the last week of summer and marks the first full week of my first tutoring sessions with Adam, I've decided to do something special. A little game was made just for Adam by me of course and it's quit easier; it's not a monopoly kind of a game. Adam has to correct proper grammar and stages of an essay and if guessed right then he'll be rewarded with candy.
Isn't that childish, Alice? Of course, but that's what makes it fun!
My ancient brown shoulder bag that has a fraying stitched sunflower on the bottom is thrown on my shoulder. I dig out of my bag as I walk to the outside water fountain so I can refill my water bottle. However, someone gets to the fountain before I was able to open the cap. I stand behind the soccer player, who doesn't notice my nervous presence.
Why are you nervous, Alice? Welp. I am currently standing behind Danny and the promise I made to Adam and myself last week hits me full force.
'I promise I'll talk to Danny'
I am a woman of my word so I gulp my fear back into the pit of my stomach, therefore making it stay there. When trying to think of something to say I come up with a weak sounded 'Hi', but Danny didn't even hear
my puny attempt. At last, Danny pulls away from the fountains grasp and jumps a little at the sight of me, "H-hi." I shyly say."Sorry, I didn't hear you behind me," He chuckles while pushing his sweating black hair back, "Alice, right?"
I nod with a smile and begin to fill up my water bottle as well as my courage. Danny leans on the pale blue wall next to me, and says, "I recognized you from history class because we had it together since sophomore year."
"Actually, since freshmen year," I corrected and glanced to see his surprised face. I curse myself for making myself seem like a stalker, for I remembered something so stupid. Quickly, I start to think of things to say, "But who's really counting? I'm not."
Good one, Alice. Good one...
Danny laughs out load, "You know you're really funny, Alice!"
"Thanks." I reply with a blush. "Alice, I gotta ask why are at school during the summer with a bag?" He asks.
"I'm tutoring my friend for English, Adam Smith," I say and bring out the bag of sweets, "And I'm gonna play a game with him. You want a piece of candy?"
Before he could answer and before I could explain the game to him, his fellow soccer team and friends call out for him. "Yo, Dan! What are you doing?" Soccer Teammate 1 asks.
"Talking to Alice!"
"Look like you're about to pig out on that bag of Kit Kats!" Friend 2 says with a laugh, they gather behind Danny and stare at me, "So you're Alice Wolf." Friend 2 trails off.
