A Box of Toys (LPSDave x Reader)

You looked out the front door and watched as a moving van pulled up to the house across the street. Behind the moving van was a small blue Honda. They both parked in front of the house. It had been 4 months since anyone had lived there. You were excited to find out who your new neighbors would be it would be a nice change maybe it would be someone your age or a family to bring some life to this old neighborhood. You watched as your new neighbor emerged from his car. A man, around your age, appeared out of the car and walked over to the house. He was of average build, maybe 5'9, brown hair, normal. You watched as he opened the house and went about moving his items inside. What really caught your eyes was the amount of boxes that said toys.

"Kids" You squealed "To be a good neighbor I shall baked some cookies"

You spent the next 2 hours in the kitchen cooking up the best raspberry and white chocolate cookies you could. You stacked some fresh warm cookies on a plate and went for the front door. You grabbed your keys and made your way across the street. The moving van had left but the front door was wide open. You walked up to the door and knocked.

"Hello?" You called out

"Hello?" the man you saw appeared from a side room

"Hi I'm ______ your neighbor across the street I hope you don't see me as nosey but I saw the boxes of toys and decided I would make some cookies for your kids" You smiled

"Oh that's very nice of you miss but my children don't live with me anymore" He gave a sad smile

"I'm sorry"

"It's okay" he smiled at you "Oh how rude of me not to introduce myself I'm Dave"

"Nice to meet you Dave how about you eat the cookies they can be pick me up cookies or something" You held out the plate

"Well thank you" Dave took the plate "Look I know this is going to sound weird but would you like to come over for dinner?"

"Sure most of the people in the neighborhood are elderly people so it would be nice to talk to someone my age for a change"

"Sweet so see you around 7?"

"I'll be here" You smiled

"Good see you then" Dave smiled

"See ya" You waved and made your way back across the street

-Time skip because I'm lazy-

7 o'clock rolled around and you were knocking at Dave's door. He yelled at you to come in. You opened the door and stepped inside. You followed the smell of pasta to the kitchen. Dave was busy preparing Spaghetti Bolognese. While he was busy you took the opportunity to look around. The house was not quite what you expected, you didn't go far, choosing to stay in the kitchen so as not to seem like such a nosey neighbor.

"I hope you don't mind the house is still a mess and this was the easiest thing I could think of" Dave said reaching for plates

"I don't mind at all, also I made us some desert nothing special just chocolate mousse" You held up the bowls

"Thank you put it in the fridge" He nodded to wards it

You placed the mousse in the fridge and took a seat at the table as Dave brought over the plates. He sat down across from you and began to eat. You began to chat, he was a bag of surprises. But there was something that nagged at you.

"If your children are with your wife what's with all the toys?" You asked

"Ex wife" He corrected you "They are part of my work I guess you could say"

"And what exactly do you do? Repair broken toys?" You asked interested

"Not exactly I have a Youtube channel where I review toys"

"Well that explains a lot"

"And you don't think that's weird?"

"Not at all I myself run a youtube channel for games"

"I'll have to check you out"

"And I you"

"Would you like to check out my set up once we've finished this wonderful mousse"

"I would love that"

You soon finished your mousse with Dave saying you would have to make him more. Apparently his ex was a health freak although he did get away with eating lollies and feeding his kids lollies if it was for his channel. You moved the dishes to the sink and followed Dave to the basement of the house. The basement had a bunch of cupboards with toys placed along them. On one wall was a white table with a white cloth hanging off the wall and over it. You smiled and looked over the toys noticing some from when you were young.

"Would you like a demo?" Dave asked

"Yes please" You smiled

"Well I start by picking a toy say this easy bake oven and then I decided what I'm going to do with it so in this case cook something. I make sure I have everything I need and set it up in front of the camera I never show my face only my hands and I have other 'friends' that join me like Butch whose a toy dog" Dave rubbed his neck embarrassed

"Sounds cute" You smiled

Dave smiled back at you and began to slowly move forward. Before you knew what was happening he had kissed you. You pulled back quickly in surprise.

"I'm sorry that was out of line I shouldn't have"

"It's okay" You smiled at him

This time you moved forward. You pulled him into another kiss smiling. His hands wandered around your waist, yours around his neck.

You woke up the next morning in an unfamiliar bed. You rolled over slowly to be meet with a familiar face.

"Good morning sleeping beauty" Dave smiled

"Morning" You smiled back "Could you please explain what I'm doing in your bed in one of your shirts"

"You seriously don't remember?"

"I remember cracking a bottle of wine"

"Well we drank like 2 and a half bottles of wine done some dancing and then decided to call it a night with you helping yourself to my shirt and crawling into my bed"

"Well that explains it"

"You know your amazing" Dave smiles

"Oh I'm just a girl plain and boring"

"Not your not your beautiful, fun and far from boring um if it's not to soon I would like you to be mine" Dave blushed

"Of course" You smiled

You cuddled into Dave before sharing a short, sweet kiss.

"I love you _________"

"I love you too Dave"
