Chapter 2: On The Road

POV: Sadie

"That's enough Rosemary! If you want to talk about it we will but not here were we are making a scene. Remember we can't call more attention to our self." I said with a coldness that made my three sisters surrender to what I was saying instantly.

"Yeah, whatever." With so much attitude and irritation Rosemary answer me. Taking a deep breath to calm myself and not snap at her for her attitude. Like I said this was not the place and time to have this conversation with Rosemary again. No matter what I do or say to them I will always be the bad guy, the killer who took everything from them.

With one last deep breath I take my surrounding making sure this is a safe point for us. The spot I chose to park was perfect, it was an alley between the gas station and diner which hide us from the drivers on the road. Already forming a plan on my mind of which exits to take if we have to make a quick getaway, the fastest and safest exit will be through the back road of the gas station.

"Okay this is what we are going to do, to safe time Rosemary and Violet go to the diner and order food to go. While me and Lina go to the gas station to get supplies and full up the gas can." I said with so much authority challenging them not to fight me on this. It seem everyone was okay with my order that with a simple nod Rosemary and Violet left in direction of the diner. Gathering the gas can in my left hand we headed to the gas station, the moment we open the glass door a little blue bell was hit making a small sound signaling the gas station attendant someone had arrived.

I was about to talk to Lina when I hear a raspy voice say "how can I help you ladies?" looking up I came face to face with a greasy looking middle age man with blonde hair and blue eyes.

"Oh, hello no we are good thankyou for asking." I said a little startled because of how close he got without me noticing, that was a mistake that could cost us to loose our life if it had been somebody else.

"Okay, if you need help I would be right over there." The men pointed to my left were the cash register was located at. Giving him a nod as signal that I got the message he left us alone.

Turning to Lina I instructed her to take care of the snacks while I take care of the stuff we needed for the car. I saw Lina enter the second aisle wile I went to the last aisle were all the car stuff is. Once I was done getting what I need I turned to look for Lina but to my horror I couldn't see her anywhere in the store, dropping everything to the floor I ran to the front of the store to ask the men when I hear her sweet voice to the right of the store.

"Are we leaving already?" Faster then lightning I turn my head towards her almost startling her of my movement. I got to her with a speed that would put flash to shame, gathering her in my arms I hugged her afraid of loosing her again. After a few seconds of hugging her I pull back to check her making sure she was okay.

"Where were you Lina!" I scream at her while shaking her so hard that some of her strawberry blond hair came out of her ponytail.

"Answer me dammit! You know the rules never go anywhere without telling me first and if you do you always need to stay on eyes distance. Do you remember the rules?" I know I was hurting her with my screaming and the hard grip I had on her but she needed to understand and follow the rules so I can keep her safe.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you but I need to go to the restroom. It won't happen again." Tears were rolling down her chubby ruby checks and her lip was quivering from her silent cries. It pain me to be hard but its for her own good for her survival.

"As long it does not happen again Lina, it for your own good to follow the rules." I said a little calmer to put her at ease. Gathering what I had drop while looking for her and the snacks she had put in a basket on the counter while she went to the restroom we paid for them and the 5 gallons of gas for the gas can we left to meet with Violet and Rosemary were we had park the car. When we got to the car Violet and Rosemary were already inside the car munching on some fries and sipping on a plastic cup guessing it was coke.

"Okay you guy get inside the car and start eating while I put water and oil on the car so we can leave as soon as we can." I said while walking to the hood of the car while signaling Violet to open the hood. Once I was done I enter the car ready to leave this place we have been here far to long and it was dangers to stay any longer.

Four hours later

We had been on the road for four hour when a black Tahoe came out of nowhere full speed toward us. For a moment I thought it was going to hit us but at the last moment it turn to the next line then speeding a little more than stop as if waiting for me to catch up with him, when I get near it would speed up as if challenging me to a car race. That had catch all of my sisters attention it was if they were excited to see what I would do next, part of me wanted to race the other part thought of all the reasons I should not race him. For example my sisters were in the car or what if we got in accident because of my stupidity of racing some crazy man. As both our cars stop in the stop sign side to side he keep honking trying to get my attention when I did turn I shake my head say a silent no. That was until my sister Violet said, "we should have a little fun." With those words I honk to him before he left say that I had change my mind. The cars started to make a loud defining rumbling sound as we press on the accelerator, the goal was to get to the next stop sign that was a mile away. We both hold up three finger then two fingre finally one fingre at the same signaling the go sign. As if we were on fire we both let go of the brake meaning the race had began.
