INHALATION

Inhale - you caught me in the middle, for holding my breath requires too many coordinations: One group of muscles pulling this way, the other group trying not to move, all the while my brain is receiving biochemically urgent messages that carbon dioxide is acidifying my bloodstream and the cells in my muscles are screaming, "warning, warning, we are in imminent danger of shutdown!"

What a long whiff of air that was - I just about sucked all of the air out of this room. It's a good thing that no one but you is around, for if a throng amasssed here, I fear that they might feel short of air - gasping for more oxygen to fuel their tiny furnaces within their cells. Those furnaces are like miniscule generators; each one can convert sugar and oxygen into usable energy for action, like breathing or running or digesting or thinking.

In hell - you caught me in the midst of my self-defeating and mind-destroying rituals. This is when I tabulate the number of errors and sins that I have committed, it is a large sum, and that is just for this week alone! Do you have a calculator on your person? I need to divide the sum of my sins by the number of people that I have wronged. I wish to figure out how many wrongdoings per person. Now if you will excuse me, I almost forgot that I needed to...

Exhale - Such a soothing and under appreciated movement. This is something that most of us take for granted, except for those with stiff lungs either from a constricted windpipe, narrowed airways or beat-up and/or mashed up airsacs. Did you know that exhalation comprises about two thirds of the breathing cycle? Hell ya! Breathing out is akin to cleaning the blood and it makes room for the next inhalation.

I wish sometimes that I could just breathe out and not breathe in afterwards. Exhalation is such a relaxing feeling and why not simply relax for the rest of my life? The thing is - exhalation is so freakin' relaxing because of what comes before it - that work-requiring, energy-consuming, tiny furnace, powerhouse-depending and the one requirement above all for our way of life...

Inhalation.

In hell, what a sensation.

Inhale deeply, if you must

But don't forget to stop, or you might bust.

Inhalation,

You need to get it right

Each and every one is vital

Silent ones or those more audible.

So give this wonder of life

Some cudos and love

As you breathe in the air

From all around you and from above.

Sigh.
