Rafael and I walk back to the tent, a bit of an awkward silence between us. We've never really had a disagreement before. We only know each other for a week now, but in that time we've gotten closer than I could've ever imagined.

I hate this tension between us. But I don't know how to fix it, because I'm not giving in, and neither is he. We're both stubborn like that.

''Oliver.'' Rafael's voice snaps me out of my thoughts. ''Stop thinking so hard.'' He flops down on the bed, letting out an exhausted yawn. Today was a long and tiring day for the both of us.

''Let's just take a nap right now.'' I say, laying down next to him on the bed. It'll give me the perfect opportunity to sneak out and heal the injured rogue a bit and for Rafael to rest. We still have most of the day in front of us, so we can do something else after the nap.

I put my head on his chest, wrapping my arm around his waist. I can hear his heartbeat in my ear, a soft thump, making it extremely hard to stay awake.

I kiss his jaw, feeling slight stubble on my lips. I look at his lips, admiring the fullness of them. I really want to feel them on mine again, but I know now isn't the right time.

He sighs, a small smile on his lips before his breaths start to be slower and slower and he eventually falls asleep.

I have great trouble to stay awake, his heart beats in my ear and his slow steady breaths just so relaxing. But I have to save a man's life. Even though it is against Rafael's wishes, or more like commands, to do so.

I quietly untangle myself from Rafael's limbs, careful not to wake him. I know that if he'll find out he'll probably be mad, but I can't live with myself knowing I let a man die while I could've done something. Healing people is what I do, it's what I have to do now too.

I put on some more decent clothes, still trying to be as quiet as possible. I put my legs through both of the pant legs, glancing over in Rafael's direction to make sure he is still asleep.

I put my shirt over my head and exit the tent, feeling a bit bad that I'm disobeying Rafael's orders. It's mostly my wolf that feels bad, he feels the need to obey his orders, not just because he is an alpha, but also because he is our mate. He doesn't want to displease our mate.

I walk to the infirmary, passing some pack members on the way. They look at me, some surprised, they're probably not used to seeing me alone without their alpha.

I arrive at the tent, stepping inside. I immediately spot the nurse, Sharon, putting some bandages on the guy's wounds. He looks to be in a lot of pain, grunting and growling everytime Sharon touches him in a place that's obviously sensitive.

I step a little closer, not wanting to startle them, but wanting to inspect the work Sharon is doing. The bandages seem to be fine, expertly put on by Sharon. I just hadn't thought of what to do with her. She will probably want to obey her alpha's orders, maybe she doesn't have another choice. What do I do if she refuses to let me close to him?

The rogue notices me first, growling at me when he spots me. I quickly hold my hands up, signalling that I mean no harm. He doesn't back down though, growling louder as I come closer. He sees me as a threat, as the alpha's mate. The alpha that just cast him out of his pack, after injuring him.

Sharon turns around, her eyebrows lifting as she sees me. ''What are you doing here?'' She doesn't sound hostile, just genuinely curious.

''I can't just let him go out there without at least healing his deepest wounds.'' I say, looking at the rogue. He gets a surprised expression on his face upon hearing my words.
