Rafael leads me to the first person, the big muscly guy standing closest to me. His beta. "This is Terry, my beta." He says, patting the guy's shoulder. The guy turns around, facing us.
"Hi, I'm Oliver." I say, unsure of what else to do. Do I reach out my hand so we can shake hands? Do we hug?
"Nice to finally meet you for real." He says before giving me some kind of one armed guy hug. I've seen some other guys do this kind of hug, but I've never done one of these myself. I always found it a weird way of hugging.
"It's nice to finally meet you too." I answer, feeling myself smiling at Terry's contagious smile. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, it makes me wonder what he did to end up a rogue.
After Terry I meet a bunch of other people, I immediately forget their names, the tiredness preventing my brain from storing any new information. I really could use some sleep right about now. But Rafael just looks so happy showing me to everybody. He has this proud look on his face everytime he introduces me to a new person. I don't want to ruin the fun for him.
He introduces me to a couple more people, before he finally seems to notice my tired state. ''We're going to head back to my tent.'' Rafael says, putting an arm around my shoulder. I hear a couple complaints from people that probably still wanted to meet me, but I'm too tired to even care right now. ''He'll be here all weekend, you'll have enough time to get to know him.'' Rafael says, addressing the people complaining.
We walk to the other side of the camp to Rafael's tent. I really want to look around, I've been so curious about his living situation, but I can't do anything but lean into his shoulder, my eyes slowly fluttering shut.
Rafael decides to just pick me up, his strong arms carrying me further through the camp.
His scent surrounding me, his strong arms holding me and the movement of his walking finally lulls me into a deep, exhausted sleep.
I wake up somewhere in the middle of the night. My muscles feel sore, but I don't necessarily feel uncomfortable. I am laying against a hard, but warm chest, and an arm is around my waist, holding me in place. Rafael's scent is everywhere, it's on the pillow I'm laying on, on the too thin mattress. I love his scent.
I don't remember going to bed yesterday with Rafael, he must have put me to bed before getting into the bed himself.
I try to shift on my back, my left hip hurting from laying in the same position for too long on the uncomfortable mattress. Is it even a mattress? Airbed would be a better word for it.
Rafael doesn't loosen his grip though, holding me tight against his chest. I try to wiggle out of his arms, but he doesn't let go. Who knew someone could be this strong in their sleep?
So I just try to relax my sore muscles, trying to fall back asleep.
Despite all the inconveniences I still manage to fall asleep again. The sounds of the forest at night and my mate's scent get me taken to dreamland again.
I wake up to the loss of warmth. I had been so warm all through my sleep, I dreamt of beaches and Rafael. But now the warmth is gone.
I sit up, looking around me, trying to spot my mate that's supposed to be holding me right now.
It doesn't take me long to spot him, he's standing in the corner of the tent, muttering something in a phone. He sounds aggravated, his stance tense and rigid. He keeps his voice low, probably assuming I'm still asleep.
I focus on his voice trying to hear what he's saying, curiosity overtaking my need for warmth. "I don't care about that, he took our stuff. I can't let him go unpunished." I can make out his full sentences now that I'm focused. But I don't understand what he's talking about. Someone took their things? Did they get robbed? I don't know if I'm supposed to hear this conversation or not, but I guess I'll make my presence known.
