I woke up and looked at my phone. "3? Oh shit." I yelled. I was supposed to meet up with Mira today. She was going to kill me. I tried to get ready as fast as I could and jotted down the stairs.
"Jonah, wait up. Thank you for taking me to the hospital last night. I know how late you had to stay up because of me and I wanted you to know how grateful I am. I really appreciate you stepping up when your dad just doesn't." Said my mom.
"Mom, I don't mind at all. But dad wants to be here, he doesn't feel welcome though." I said.
"If I see that man ever again, it'll be too soon. Are you going out?" She asked.
"I was supposed to meet up with Mira, but I overslept and she's probably mad." I said.
"I'm sure she'll understand. You are a good guy. God knows you didn't get you personality from your dad or me for that matter. You're really different." She said.
I stood there for a few moments staring at her trying to decide if it was a compliment or not.
"It's a good thing. Go on. I don't want to keep you. Will I see you for dinner?" She asked.
"I'm not sure yet. I'll text you. Bye mom." I yelled as I left the house.
I started the car and prepared myself to be yelled at. Mira was a bitch when she wanted to be. She knows exactly what to say to hurt someone. Can't say that it's a bad quality though, her cruelness always intrigued me. I pulled up on her driveway anad parked my car. I walked up the driveway slowly, I was debating if I should go back and get her some flowers. It was too late though, I had already rung her doorbell.
"Hey Jonah." Said her mom.
"Hey Mrs. Hale. Is Mira home?" I asked.
"She just left with Eddie." She said.
"She left with Eddie?" I said with a hint of recognizable anger in my voice.
"I'm not picking sides. We all know that Mira can make rash decisions, but you were late." She said.
"I know. It's my fault. I had to take my mom to the hospital last night and I overslept this morning. I need to see her. Do you know where she is?" I asked.
"I don't. I'm sorry. How is your mom?" She asked.
"She's fine I guess. She's almost done with her treatment. But it doesn't look like she's getting better." I said.
"I haven't seen her in such a long time. I'm gonna give her a call and tell her to come over. If you find Mira, bring her home. We can all have dinner." She said.
"Yeah, sure." I said as I walked to my car. Mira is the most understanding person in my life. I put her through a lot the past year and she forgave me for all of it. I know that it's my turn to be there for her, but if she won't let me, then I can't. I noticed that I had gotten a snapchat from Kayla. I opened it and every bit of worry and regret I had turned into anger. It was a picture of Jonah and Mira in his car. I realized I could be overreacting. I trust Mira. But she's mad at me and anything could be going through her head right now. I figured I should probably calm down before talking to her, so I decided to meet up with my friends. The entire drive over to them was consumed with thoughts about Mira. I loved her and I didn't want to lose her, but it was obvious I was. I walked into the restaurant trying to keep up my spirits. "Hey nick." I said.
"Hey. How's your mom doing?" He asked.
"She's good. I don't know. She's still alive." I said.
"Jonah. Mira is here... with Eddie." Nick said.
I turned around and saw them... That was the last draw. She pushed it way too far. I couldn't bare to see them together.

I didn't know if I should say something. All I wanted to do was shove my fist in his dumbass face. I decided against that idea.
"Mira." I said.
"Jonah! What are you doing here?" She yelled.
"I'm here with my guy friends. What's your excuse?" I asked angrily.
"Jonah brought me here because you bailed on me... once again." She yelled.
"I overslept. People make mistakes Mira... You don't even know what happened."
"You were twenty minutes late Xander. You're never here. I'm always second and I'm sick of it." She yelled.
"I'm sick of you whoring yourself out to every guy you meet." I yelled.
"I'm sick of you treating me like that. If you had kept your word none of this would've happened and we both know I'm the loyal one in this relationship." She said.
"I can't deal with you, your tantrums, and your accusations anymore." I said.
"What does that mean? Are you breaking up with me?" She said as tears streamed down her face.
"I guess I am." I said as I walked out. I knew that was the wrong decision right after I said it. I turned around to go back and I saw her in Jonah's arms. What's the point if she doesn't love me anymore?

"Jonah, wait up. She doesn't know what happened. You guys just have to talk." Nick said.
"I know, but she... Jonah and her are... I don't know." I stuttered.
"You guys have gotten through so much together. It would be stupid to break up over this. He's nobody." Nick said.
"I have to go. I'll see you later." I said as I got into my car.
I loved her. She has been the only steady thing in my life since my dad left us and my mom got cancer. We have way too much history. I've been with her since I was a kid. We grew up together. We're meant to be together. I knew at that moment that I not only wanted, but needed to get her back. I went to Macy's to get her some jewelry. I thought maybe it would make her less mad. I walked in and felt weird instantly. This was a girl's store. I walked around and was confused as hell, usually I had my mom here to tell me where to go and what to get.
"Hey handsome." said a unpleasantly familiar voice.
"Hey Maria." I said.
"So, i heard you and Mira are over. Does that mean we can get started again?" She said as she stroked my face gently.
"No." I said as I pushed her hand off of me. "We aren't over. We got in a fight." I said.
"Ha. And you're here trying to buy her love. You don't need to buy mine. I'd treat you so much better than she can." She sighed.
"Yeah, maybe. But I don't want you." I said.
"You once did." She said.
"No, i never did." I said.
"Really? Because you having sex with me says otherwise." She said.
"I was drunk. It was a mistake. One I won't make again." I said as I walked away from her. Whatever Mira does will never be as bad as what I did to her. I looked for the perfect accessory to match her beauty. But nothing was good enough.
"Can I help you with anything, sir?" Asked a lady that worked there.
"Yeah, I need something special for my girlfriend but I can't find anything." I said.
"Wow. Everyone is buying something for their girlfriends. A gentleman, about your age, bought an engagement ring for his girlfriend. Do you know a Nick Abernethy?" She asked.
"Oh, He's my best friend." I said. Nick bought an engagement ring, for nina? They've been dating for two months. Maybe this is the kinda thing I have to do to show Mira i'm really committed to her. I looked to my right and saw the prettiest ring to probably ever exist. "I'll take that one." I said.
