you wake up to the sound of your alarm.
on a normal day, you would be pissed off immediately. today is different.

you go through the daily morning routine,
run downstairs and grab your coffee and a bagel
and walk to the bus stop- where you meet jack

"goodmorning!"
you say chipper to the blonde boy

he takes his earbud out of his left ear and turns
to face you with a smile
"morning sunshine"

"I got you something, but you have to wait until
the end of the day to get it. it's back at my place"
he says

"you know my patience levels are very low,
but thank you for getting me something.
I'm excited to see it!"

he smiles and stands up as he hears the
bus pull around the corner onto your street.
-

"so do you have any plans later?"
jack asks as you follow him to his locker

"uh I don't think so, no.
what about you?"

"well we have band practice at my place
after school, I was gonna ask if you
wanted to come hang for awhile.
then you can grab that thing
i got you while you're there."

you get excited for a moment,
you never pass up an opportunity to hear
them play, especially with the new
songs they've been writing- you've even gotten
to help write up lyrics and chord patterns

"yeah i'm down, what time do you
want me over there?"
you ask him

"you can just ride home with me and jarvis,
that will save tristan a trip"

"I'm sure he'll appreciate that"
you say knowing your brother dreads every time
he has to help out someone other than himself

"okay sounds good"
he smiles at you as a pack of cigarettes fall
to the floor at his feet from his locker

you look at him confused
"jack, are those yours?"

"don't worry y/n, they're.. uh.. old"
he scurries to the floor and picks the packet up
and shoves it back into his locker

you look at the pack of cigarettes and then at jack
"you told me you quit"

"I did!"
he says sounding frustrated
"I'll see you at lunch"
he slams his locker shut and walks away

you sigh and turn to walk to your first class
