"Here we are!" Said my sister, smiling wide from ear to ear. The air was thick here, and my mind was still registering from what had just happened. My head was pounding, and my chest felt as if it was filled with water. "Don't worry, you'll get used to the "After" feeling, that feeling you get after your soul has just traveled through the fabric of space and time? Yeah. It'll go away." I nodded, not even slightly reassured. Behind her stood a gigantic palace, it's structure made out of polished obsidian stone. Two towers stood a few feet away from the giant iron gate, and in front was what appeared to be the main building. I could spot men in dark outfits in both towers, looking over the campus, protecting it, I presumed. Behind the palace was a giant mountain, a gigantic dragon swirling it's peak. I looked at the engravings on the gate. Protection Sigils. What was the big threat? I wondered. The iron gate creaked open, startling me halfway out of my skin. A petite blonde girl came skipping out of them, her uniform neat and freshly polished. Her sharp blue eyes made her look even more fragile. The school's crest was emblazoned on her jacket, and she wore a tie that matched her navy blue jacket and dark, polished shoes. "Hi! Jessica And Omera Killthorne?" My sister nodded. "Third years may proceed to their dorms." Mera smiled, turned around and faced me, her voice barely a whisper. "Good Luck!" She said, and she grabbed her luggage and headed up the staircase that would lead her to the dorms.  "You must be Jessica?" "Y-Yes." I stammered. "Hi! I'm Lucy, but everyone calls me Lu. Since this is your first year here, I will be your guide, but first, I need to direct you to freshman orientation. It's mandatory." I nodded, and she grabbed my hand and tightened her grip. "Verono!" She yelled. Instantly, we were inside of the palace. My mouth dropped. The inside was breath taking, in the Lobby, a diamond chandelier hung overhead, and in front of me, a gigantic staircase that stretched both left and right, leading to two different corridors. Books lined the walls on both sides of me. Students brushed beside me, walking down the halls, finding their classes. One boy sneezed, and accidentally set himself aflame. A girl sprouted wings, and flew up the stairs with ease, retracting the wings back into her spine. "Well," Lucy began, "you're not in California anymore!" I laughed at her attempt to crack a joke. She smiled at me. "Right this way!" We walked past the staircase and into a college- styled classroom. The room sloped downward, like a movie theatre. What appeared to be a chalk board hung on the wall at the bottom of the stairs, a teaching platform beneath it. Lucy guided me to an empty chair. Two girls looked in my direction, and one rolled her eyes. The other whispered to the eye-roller, which caused her to burst into a fit of laughter. "Don't mind them" Lucy said. "They are the daughters of Regent Miles, very snobby. If they see the need to joke on you, they're probably just jealous that a commoner looks better than them." "Why don't they go to a better school? I mean this.. dimension does have different areas right? Why can't they just go somewhere else?" Lucy raised an eyebrow. "This is your first time here?" I nodded. "Oh! Well in that case, you should know that in THIS world, there are seven kingdoms. This kingdom, the kingdom of Nivra, is allied with 5 of the other 6 kingdoms. There was a 100 year war with Liones, and Nivra is Neutral with Hyenus." I nodded, only somewhat lost. "Don't worry, you'll learn everything you need to know in world history. I best be on my way! I have looaadsss of unpacking to do. Bye!" She said, her blonde hair swishing behind her. "Thank you!" I called out to her. I took a second to take in my surroundings. A boy with glasses skimmed through a book of sigils. A girl beside me played with her hair and seemed agitated. Maybe I should help her out. I leaned toward her, and cleared my throat. "Hi!" She jumped, obviously startled. "Oh.. hi." She said. "I'm Jessica, you are?" She paused for a moment, a puzzled look crossed her face. "Makenna." "That's nice. How are you liking it so far?" She shrugged her shoulders. "Fine. These chairs could use a bit more cushion." "Tell me about it." I replied. "I can't even feel my ass anymore." Mackenna snorted, which made us both begin to laugh. "What's so funny?" Called out one of the girls from earlier. "Your hair." I retorted, which caused the whole class to begin to laugh. The girl flushed red, and her sister lifted her nose as if she smelled something that made her stomach lurch. "You did NOT just disrespect Princess Elliose!" Said a shocked Mackenna. "Hmm, I guess I did!" I said, proud that someone stepped up to her for once. "Settle down class! Settle down." A giant, bear like man came walking into the classroom. His deep voice had everyone at full attention. "My name is Mister Bir, but you can call me Mr. B. I will be inducting you all into the academy of the accursed, the most esteemed and prestigious school in all of the seven kingdoms. But first, the sixth years would like to inform you on some of the extra curricular activities that you can participate in on campus." The giant man stood aside, and three students walked in. A girl and two boys. "That's Kimchi!" Mackenna exclaimed. "Who?" I asked. "Kimchi? Only the best Jumba player in the ENTIRE kingdom?" She pointed at the girl, who was Asian in appearance and had sleek black hair that reached her waist. The two boys stood on either side of her, their uniforms the same as ours, but with gold trimming instead of red. "Hello. I'm Kimchi, as some of you all may know. And this is Brandon and Luke. I'm Jumba captain and these are my Co-captains. If any of you would like to sign up, come to tryouts, or assist us anyway throughout the season, you will be greatly appreciated. Tryouts will be held four days from now, on the palace field, north of Mount Gasta. Girls should wear suitable, BREATHABLE attire, and boy should as well. Bring your best game, and remember, although many of you will NOT get picked, there is always next year. That is all, and enjoy your year, first years." The girl bowed, and the boys followed, and they quietly exited the classroom. "What's Jumba?" I asked.  "You seriously don't know what that is?" She asked. "Umm, No. I wasn't raised in this dimension." "Ohh! You're Mera's little sister!! You're the halfbreed!" I nodded. "How do you know my sister?" "Well, she's pretty popular around here." That one didn't come as much surprise. "So are you, you're the only halfbreed in existence! What's it like being half human?" "Boring." I replied. "Well, Jumba is a game of strategy and will. Players fight opposing teams using magick, and both teams play at full magical power. The objective is to capture as many of the other team's orbs and stash them in order to gather points. If your orb is snatched, you are teleported back to the sidelines where you get to watch the game with the rest of the crowd. " "Oh okay, so it's kinda like flag football where I'm from?" She laughed. "Can your human football players control the weather, or fly?" "Definitely not!" I replied. "First years!" Started Mr. B. "Welcome! I know you all are a little excited to be learning advanced magicks, and finding out what your abilities may hold in store for you. A few campus rules: No using your powers unsupervised and under ANY means can you use ANY forms of magicks in any class for your own personal gain while on school grounds. You MAY, however, practice spell castings, elemental magick, marking magick, etc, in appropriate classrooms. Miss Hastings will give you all your "Marking" exams to figure out what your Akursed Type is to place you in the right classes. Some of you may have multiple Markings, and some of you may only have one. You may even develop another marking while you are here on school grounds. Only time will tell. An example of a marking would be Elemental. Since I'm and elemental, elemental magic comes easy to me, and I can summon the elements at will." He opened his palm, and blue flames burst from his hand. The classroom burst in applause. "Settle down, settle down." "Amazing!" Mackenna gawked. "Now, there is a chart that shows Marking rankings based on their power and rarity, and how flexible your given abilities will be. Please, no show offs. Next we have campus parties. Campus parties are to be held at specified locations. Any unauthorized parties will be shut down, and said students may face potential punishments. No boys are allowed in girls dorms, and Vice versa, after curfew. And for people who are attracted to the same sex, please at least try not to have sex with your dorm-mate while on school grounds." The classroom giggled at this remark. "In case of intrusion, which is highly impossible given our wards and that the watchmen are protecting the school 'round the clock, you are permitted to use magic to protect yourself. And lastly, have fun. This is your first year, but you all are not new to the world. Act accordingly and this may be the best year of your lives." He snapped his fingers, and a piece of paper appeared in our hands. "Oohhh I have blood magick 101 for my first class! How about you?" Mackenna beamed. I skimmed my paper. "Hmm, it seems I have classroom marking placement first." "Oh, that's for people who don't know what their power markings are yet. Don't worry, you'll be fine." She said, a reassuring smile crossing her face. "Yeah, I sure fucking hope so." "Find your classrooms, and enjoy your first day at the academy!" Yelled Mr. B. This year seems to be off to a good start.
***************
I walked around the school, shoving past a boy with horns, a girl with fangs, and what appeared to be a red-eyed wolf man. Classroom placement was on the fifth floor, so I figured it would be good for me to get a layout of the passages and doorways around the school as I went up there. BUMP! My classroom paper floated over the third floor balcony, and landed on top of the chandelier below. "Oops." said the girl I bumped into. "No I'm sorry, it was completely my-" "No need for apologies." Said the girl, abruptly cutting me off. "But what you DO need to apologize for is ever setting foot in this dimension in the first place." I eyed the girl, and after looking closer, her icy white eyes pierced into my soul, taunting me. "Yeah," said someone, creeping from behind her. "We don't allow halflings at our school. You're an abomination!" The girl also shared the girl's piercing icy white eyes, and both of them sported silky brown hair, which was straightened and sat perfectly atop their breasts. Their beautiful dark mocha skin was flawless, not a single imperfection in sight. "Princesses Elle and Celeste. I've heard such great things about you," I started, "But if you'll excuse me, I have a class to get to." I tried to walk past them, but Elle grabbed my wrist, her grip surprisingly strong for someone so beautiful and fragile-looking. "Nu-uh-uhhh. We aren't letting you go THAT easy half bitch." Her mouth spread from ear to ear, revealing a set of dazzling white teeth. My hand began to shake from me attempting to pry myself free, which seemed to amuse them even more. "Take this as a warning," Celeste said, planting her knee into my abdomen. "No halfbreeds allowed." Elle stepped on my foot, leaving me leaning against a wall, writhing in pain. Their laughter echoed down the hallway, and the people that saw what they had done to me either looked away or ignored the situation entirely. Ahh, what a warm welcome.
