"Oh god, oh god." I repeated as I hunched over, and put my hands on my knees. "Everybody stay calm!" I whisper yelled to the only calm people in the room, while making a signal with my hands that kind of looked like I was telling people the room was clear.A hand found its way to the back of my shoulder, offering support. Nolan. Feeling his touch brought me back to what we were discussing only a minute ago. Snapping my head up, I stood up straight, feeling his hand slip from me should down to his side. I faced him, ready to continue to our latter conversation, my heartbeat still beating a mile a minute.
"Nolan," I whispered, "what were you saying?" I asked with curiosity and hope seeping through me.
His eyebrows inched together in what I figured to be hesitation and his eyes studied mine for what seemed like a whole hour, while only probably being a solid thirty seconds. My hand found his and squeezed, hoping that was enough to get him to tell me what he wanted to tell me.
"I, " he sighed and looked down at our hands for a moment before looking into my eyes again, "I hope he makes you very happy." He finished with a tight lipped smile.
I couldn't bring myself to smile though. With a slight nod, I slipped my hand out of his and looked at Ashley. Her hair is wild at the top, making me think she ran up the stairs to inform me of the princes arrival. No doubt mothers doing.
"Have you seen him?" I murmured
"I did." She acknowledgedI waited a few seconds, wondering if that was all she was going to say.
"He is very appealing to the eyes." She added.
Alright. Alright, alright, alright. I can do this. I chanted over and over in my head, will a nod at my sister, and a quick glance at Nolan, my hands found the door knob and twisted.
First thing I heard stepping out of my room was the chatter a floor down. With my stomach turning in knots, I took feeble steps towards the stairs. Before I reached the top stair, I turned and darted towards the bathroom. When I reached it, I rushed in and forcefully shut the door and turned the lock.
While panting, I rested body and head on the door. Peeling myself off the door, I faced the mirror. My face was a bright red, and my breathing was still reduced to pants. This dress , although pretty, was getting pretty itchy. I took some Toilet paper and began to wipe the sweat off my forehead. I perched myself of the edge of the bath tube and began to exercise my breathing. I can't go downstairs panting. What would they think?
When my breathing finally went back to semi normal, I sluggishly pulled myself to stand up right. I threw the toilet paper away and turned the lock, walking back to the stairs. I hesitantly took the first step down. Then the next, and the next until I reached the first floor.
Hearing the chatter cease, I peeked up to the crowd, My eyes analyzing all the people. It's concluded my mother, father, aunt Gertrude, uncle tommy, little sialis, and... Him.
The prince.
