"Hi Dad." I stammered, terrified. I wasn't even going to wonder how he got in.

"So, what high school are you going to, if your little dumbass even got into one." He sneered at me.

I flinched. There was no way I'm telling him about the boarding school. Even though he doesn't have custody, he is very influential. Influential and rich.

"J-j-just my town public school." I forced out. Luckily, he doesn't pay enough attention to know I'm lying.

"Just as I thought. You are a disappointment to the world and our family, and you don't deserve to be happy, you only deserve sadness and death." He chuckled.

I winced. Ouch. I mumbled out an apology, trailing off as I saw his hand ball into a fist. Shit.

"Um... I'll t-try and get into-" I was cut off my his fist slamming into my face.

I screamed, my hands flying up to defend myself. I got in a couple good hits, before he knocked me down.

He was kicking me, which was worse than his fists, and he had me pinned with his free foot. It was all I could do to throw my hands up to protect my face. I braced myself, as pain blossomed all over my body.

Suddenly, I heard a door slam.

"OH MY GOD!" I heard my mom's voice. "YOU GET THE F*CK OFF MY DAUGHTER YOU *SSHOLE!"

He immediately let go. I scrambled into the corner, away from the chaos unfolding before me.

"She's worthless and ugly, I was doing you a favor." He sneered.

"You can't be here, I have full custody of Scarlett, and god knows how you got in, but I am getting a restraining order for my family, against you." My mom steadily replied

"Can't keep and eye on her all the time..." My dad narrowed his eyes, before turning and slinking out the door.

My mom let out a long breath, before running over to me.

"Are you alright, sweetheart?" She was concerned, eyeing the bruises no doubt forming over every visible surface of my body.

I burst into tears, unable to hold them in any longer, and she gathered me into her arms, rubbing my back, mumbling soothingly into my hair.

"It's okay, he's gone. He's gone, and he's never coming back."

I shut my eyes.
