I stared at her huge moon shaped face, her eyes that mirrored the shock I felt. We stared, not saying a word for god knows how long. She broke the spell.

"What the hell are you doing here?" She spat, her voice like venom.

"Um, I work here." I snapped back with just as much menace

"Whatever." She sighed loudly, turning back to the table, where she had, undoubtably already made friends with the preps in the group, whispering.

My legs felt shaky, so I sat down on the opposite end of the bench. Why would she be here? She doesn't seem like the riding type. She was probably forced to come to camp. How am I going to survive the summer as an assistant instructor to her?

By this time my best/only friend, Jenna, my horseback riding instructor that taught beginner camp in the summer, had come.

"Hi Scarlett!" She exclaimed, coming over and hugging me. I couldn't help but smile. She's like my older sister.

"Hi." I said back dejectedly.

She picked up on it immediately "What's wrong? How was your last day?" I told her everything, starting from the beginning of the day.

"This is great Scarlett! You finally stood up for yourself! I'm proud of you! Why are you upset? Are you guilty? She deserved it." Jenna was smiling. In answer, I pointed over to the other end of the table.

"Is that her?" Jenna asked. I nodded.

"Oh gosh. I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do. I can't transfer her because this is the only beginner group."

"Yea, I understand, I just don't know what to do!" I despaired

"You wanna know what you're gonna do? You're going to go through every day with your head held high, and you won't give her a reaction. Got it?"

I nodded, grateful.

"Now come stand next to me while I introduce us."

I stood. I knew what I had to do now, but... I sighed. It's going to be a long summer.
