Hi! I am new to the whole writing thing, so please bare with me as I begin this book. I will try to make updates as often as possible and would love any input anyone has as I am writing! Thank you.

Below is the character known as Aella (A-yel-la), she will be our main character in this book.

The girl pictured is Thylane Blondeau.

I stood and watched as my fathers fist flew back and made contact with my face. My body smacked against the floor as my ears started ringing. I knew not to move, as standing back up would just make the situation worse, so I stayed on the floor.

"See Aella, what you make me do when you do not do as you are told. One simple thing, but you could not respect my rules. It pains me to have to punish you, really it does." My father said. His voice was always so calm, no matter the situation.

A kick to the stomach. Another to my ribs. I still laid there, coughing, wheezing, waiting.

All of this due to me taking too long picking up the Chinese. He gave me twenty minutes, I took a minute too long.

"Back up to your room you will go. No dinner for you tonight. Make sure your bruises are covered in the morning. You will begin your first day of school tomorrow."

I slowly got up and walked the stairs to my room. I needed to take a shower to clean the blood off of me, I just did not have the energy yet.

My life is really not the worst. I may not have a loving father, and my mother may as well be dead, but I have a roof over my head and food to sometimes eat. I don't have friends; I never was good at making them, or maybe my last school just didn't have great people, I don't know. I previously attended school in Los Alamos, California. The sun was nice there, but the people were not. I never did try with them, though, as my father would have never allowed it. I knew to always keep to myself. Of course, now we are living in Seattle, Washington, and his new job will keep him out of the house for the day, maybe even some nights. For me, that is great news.

I finally got the energy to move after awhile and made my way to the shower. I let the warm water relax my muscles as I washed, careful with my ribs with the pain I was in. I got out and dried, then proceeded to do my nightly routine before going to bed. My stomach was growling, but I was used to it.

After about twenty minutes I finally fell asleep, thinking of the day to come and what it would entail.
