We are doomed to unwillingly live a inconstant life where we have the right to live or die. A eternal chaos that is created upon the choices we take as the righteous ones and there is no escape from the consequences.
It has been a long time since I felt my heart beating irregularly because of the effort I was making to run. To make it in time. I left the phone behind because the panic was too overwhelming to sustain but the hope never left.
Hair strands were hitting my cold face as I ran fast, looking everywhere for the gas station until my eyes landed on it a few meters away.
I was breathing hard and there was almost no time for me to breath properly as I made one last effort to reach the gas station.
" Blade! " My strained voice betrayed me easily, not letting me scream at the top of my lungs. I was feeling a mixture of something that was impossible to describe.
The freezing humidity made it hard for me to breath and made my legs feel weaker but still I managed to push the glass door of the small convenience store.
" Blade! " I scream out once again and in front of me stand the two men I was thankful to see. Both of them turned their gazes over to me and confusion striked them hard as they analyzed my poor and tired state.
" Ivy? " Blade spoke out but I gave him no time to question anything. I hurriedly walked over to them and grabbed both their arms.
" We need to get out of here now. " I mentally insulted myself for my lack of calmness but there was no time whatsoever for training my composure.
" Wait for us outside. " He simply spoke and I could feel myself growing impatient and angry at his poor effort of listening to my words.
" We have less than 10 minutes, Blade! Something bad will happen if we don't get out of here! " Caleb's body seems to go rigid beside me and his gaze averts to Blade.
" The damn call. " Blade's eyes focused ahead of me in realization. They also received a call? Perhaps the same person but unlike me they chose to ignore.
I forgot the feeling of how my heart was beating because now my chest was empty. I was slowly counting the time until we had no more time to react.
" Get the hell out. " Blade blurted out the order and I stared at him for a second before we made our way out as fast as we managed to.
A black car was standing on the other side of the road, it was Blade's car. I froze for a moment and pondered on the idea that we might be the target. The danger could be resting there and we are not far away from it.
I had no time to speak out because when I turn back Caleb is attempting to grab Blade's arms with no success in stopping him.
" Miguel is there! " I make out Blade's loud voice and my eyes are focused on him. I can't seem to move my feet as I watch him start to walk over to the store and standing on the other side of the glass door stands Miguel, smiling as he sees me.
But now everything is moving in slow motion and what happens before me rips my heart open. Blade was almost reaching the old man that was pulling the door open when suddenly the store explodes.
I was too distant to be hit by the disgrace but I fell to my knees. I could make out the loud screams of Blade. Caleb was now crouched beside him and was pulling him back, Blade was hit by the strong impact of the explosion and his body fell to the freezing ground. Was he hurt?
I couldn't hear anything anymore. My body was weak and my mind couldn't form proper thoughts.
" Ivy. " I felt a pair of strong hands taking ahold of my arms and my body was carefully pulled up. I was in utter shock but only now I could associate everything. The target was Blade.
