Time Is Mysterious

It's been a few days since Dr asked us to stay. Everyday since then, we all have helped Dr with house chores, making dinner and entertaining the ideas we all have. Bentley has finally seemed to open up with Beth and she's become like a mother again.

Sitting on the couch, I can't help but feel strangely provoked. Not in an aggressive manor per say, just provoked. The room had been silent all morning, the whole house in fact has been oddly quiet. It is in this quietness that I feel danger and worry, which must by the "provoked" feeling in my life. The last time I felt it was finding Bentley instead of walkers.

"Daryl?" Beth quietly asks from my lap, where she has rested her head all day as she napped and I read a short novella that Dr wrote on a Bird and a Fox.

"What is it?" I look down at Beth, having been done reading for a while now, who found me staring at the wall.

"Do you feel that?" She looks out toward the window and I too feel a low rumble and breeze around us.

"Yeah...." Soon a wooden birdhouse hits the front window, cause me to jump and Beth to scream.

"A tornado is coming! Everyone into the basement!" Dr yells dragging Sarg and Bentley to the basement as Beth and I follow, grabbing food, my now and water on the way.

Sitting in the bathroom in the basement, we wait.

"Mommy, I'm scared." Bentley hugs Beth genuinely. It's almost as of she was always his mother. Beth holds him close and prays for our safety and that I the house.

"It's okay sweetie We'll be okay." Kissing his head, I can see the boy's reassurance from her.

"Now, don't worry young man. We're perfectly safe in here, the house was reinforced with cement so it should all hold. We'll probably just have to replace the windows." Dr, who is sitting on the floor, seems confident in his response. Whether or not I am, is the ten thousand dollar question.

We sit for what seems like days. It honestly probably was, but who can tell from a dark bathroom with no window and candles for lights. It was my smart idea to reserve the flashlights for later, when we'll probably actually need them. Finally I open the door a crack and am too shocked by the sight.

"Daryl, what do you see?" Dr asks.

"Gone. It's all jus.... gone." I open the door all the way and our mouths drop and so does our hearts. The house came down around us. The bathroom still standing tall with it's roof, walls, door and flooring; everything else, oblivion struck.

"But... it was supposed to.... "Dr steps out and is flabbergasted by the sight of his house in piles all over God's creation. Beth holds onto Bentley and me as Sarg sits on the floor whining.

"Well we better find what we can salvage, get on the road and hopefully find a car and go. No use stayin here any more." I push out of the bathroom and we all quietly rummage.

We find all we need- weapons, food (dog food too), water, blankets, clothes, and other small survival items. Heading out of the basement hole, we can see the tragedy of what happened. Looking around we aren't confronted by any walkers. It's almost as if the tornado wipes that "species" of this earth all together now.

Walking for hours, Dr seemed to calm down from losing his house. I hate it, but I almost wanted to tell him that this is life and that where every we go, eventually everything will be taken from us.

Beth was the least upset. Surprisingly. Walking with Bentley and Sarg she seemed to calm down halfway through the day. I guess I'm the most fortunate. I have them left and that's what's kinda sad for Dr. He has no one but us, not even his dog.

"There!" Bentley calls out near evening. "A house!"

"Good spot Boy!" Dr says and we all hastily walk to it. Looking around it was untouched. This whole area to be exact. Getting up the green houses porch, I look through the window and see candles lit.

I knock on the door and we all look at each other in hope. When the door opens up, I nearly die.
