Richtofen sighed softly as voices of the damned filled his head.  He didn't know what was worse, hearing them or not.  The days they were silent were the days he dreaded most.  Nikolai would throw insults or curses the doctor's way to make up for the lack of voices and to get rid of his anger.

Today had been a particularly nasty day as Nikolai had hurt Richtofen terribly.  To claim he was clueless was one thing, but to say he had no heart was just cruel.

"Rotten German, do you even know what you are doing!?" he exclaimed, making the doctor flinch back, pinned against a wall by Nikolai.

"J-Ja, I do," he stuttered, a touch frightened.

"And you make us kill our older selves why?  To "secure a better tomorrow".  Tomorrow will never be better, you are only selfish and heartless!"

Richtofen's eyes were wide in shock, tears threatening to fall.  The other two had finally found Richtofen and Nikolai, but were too late.  The German pushed Nikolai away and ran, journal tucked into his pocket.

"Richtofen!?" Dempsey yelped, trying to follow, yet losing him in the maze of halls.

The doctor slowly came to a stop, softly sobbing and laying on a bed in an open cell.  It was, perhaps, hours before someone found him, quickly wrapping him in their strong arms.

"Eddie, are you okay?" whispered Dempsey, frowning in worry when he shook his head.

"I-I'm not.  He-he called me...he said I vas heartless und selfish!" he cried, sobbing into Dempsey's chest.

Dempsey frowned, not at all happy with Nikolai.  He gently rubbed Richtofen's back and kissed his temple, calming his German lover.  This always calmed him down without fail, which relieved the American.

"Don't believe a word that bastard says, you're the most selfless and loving person I've ever met," he smiled, pecking his cheek.  Richtofen blushed at the kind words and kiss from his love, shyly smiling.

"Danke, mein liebling," he whispered, snuggling into Dempsey's chest.

The marine held tight and loving to his doctor, pressing lazy, loving kisses to his cheek.  The German moved his head, catching a kiss on his lips, smiling softly.  Dempsey chuckled lightly and pulled away, gazing into Richtofen's beautiful blue eyes.

"Damn, how could I possibly love ya more than I do now?" he whispered.

"I don't know, liebling, but I fall in love vith you more und more each day~" Richtofen cooed, nuzzling Dempsey's neck.

The American smiled, allowing Richtofen to stay like that, both of them drifting int o a peaceful sleep.
