Yes, this is based off the song by Hinder. No, I don't care that it's an old song. I love this song and I'm the one writing this. :) Enjoy!

*Calum's point of view*
I got up from the bed as the phone rang. I glanced at the woman beside me. She was sound asleep. I slipped on a pair of boxers as I picked up the phone.
"Hello?" I murmured, my voice heavy with sleep.
"Calum?" a tearful voice spoke from the other end. I immediately checked that Leslie was still asleep in bed.
"(Y/N)? What is it? What's wrong?" I whispered into the receiver.
"I- I just- I wanted to talk to you," she mumbled.
"Why are you calling so late?"
"Aaron just fell asleep."
"Why are you crying? Are you okay?" I felt my anger rise as I thought of him laying a hand on her.
"I'm okay. I just miss you."
"I miss you too," I whispered. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned to see Leslie wrapped in the bedsheets.
"Cal, what are you doing up? Come back to bed," she rubbed my shoulders.
"I have to take this call. It's Luke. Something's come up," I told her. "I'll be back in a few minutes." She nodded and went and sat in bed, reading a book that she picked up from the nightstand.
"Listen, Honey, it's kind of hard to talk right now."
"She's there?"
"She's in the next room. I'll have to whisper."
"It's okay." She paused. "Calum, I-"
I nearly groaned aloud. I missed hearing her voice say my name. It sounded so sweet and heavenly. I heard muffled voices on the other end.
"Does he know its me? I don't want to start another fight between you guys," I told her, but at the same time I didn't want to hang up. It had been so long since I had spoken to her. Nearly two years. The last time I had seen her she had been shopping for a wedding dress. I had seen her come out of the store with her best friend. I had been sitting in a cafe across the street. She had looked up and made eye contact. I recalled the look of hurt and guilt in her eyes. It made my stomach clench.
"No, he doesn't know," she spoke softly.
"It's really good to hear your voice," I said after a moment.
"It's good to hear your's too," she replied, and I could tell she was smiling.
"I- I guess we never really moved on, huh?" I half laughed.
"Not really," she breathed out a laugh.
We sat in silence for a long while. It wasn't awkward or uncomfortable silence like it was with me and Leslie. This was a comforting quiet.
"I've been having dreams about us," she whispered.
"I've dreamt of you too," I smiled. She thought of me still. "Sometimes I wish she was you."
"And I want nothing more than to be in her place, but we're married now and I don't think tha-"
"I know."
"Aaron is calling me, I have to go," she sounded on the verge of tears again.
"I love you, (Y/N)."
"I love you too, Calum."
"I'll always be here. Anytime you need me."
"I miss you."
"I miss you too, Love."
"Goodnight, Cal."
"G'night, babe," I heard the phone click then nothing but a beeping sound filled my ear. I placed the phone back in its cradle. Slowly, I made my way to the bedroom where Leslie was reading.
"Everything okay with Luke?"
"Yeah," I monotoned, "Sorry, Leslie, but I'm exhausted. I just need sleep tonight."
"It's alright," she kissed me quickly and I couldn't help but cringe inwardly. Her lips were rough. (Y/N)'s were soft and smooth, like an angel's. I rolled onto my side away from Leslie and pretended to fall asleep. After a bit, I heard her soft snores. I rolled over onto my back, staring at the ceiling. I missed my angel.
