School the next day wasn't as rough as it had previously been for Dani. Although Steve had told her about the talk that he'd had with Nancy that afternoon and how she wanted to tell Barb's parents and he was afraid that she was going to break at some point and just do it, which was kind of stressing Dani out.
Mr. Bruner had coffee set out just in case for the girl. She'd already had coffee that morning, however she wasn't going to pass up more of it. This only led to a caffeine high early in the day that she knew she was going to crash from when she got home. She would need to take a nice nap before heading to Jonathan's for the night. She didn't wanna ruin the kids' night by being tired, Dani was many things, but a party pooper was definitely not one of them.
It was around lunch time, however, that Dani could feel the effects of all that coffee wearing off. So like any irresponsible teenager, she decided to find a nice little spot in the back of the library where she knew no one would find her and take a quick power nap. She had made it about halfway to the library when Tommy stopped her in the hallway to try and talk with her, asking whether or not he would see her at Tina's Halloween party later that night, to which she didn't answer. Carol and Billy, who she had only just noticed had begun to hang around the other two, sat off to the sidelines, still in hearing distance.
It was the first time Billy had seen someone he knew personally interact with the girl that he'd now had his eye on. He wasn't gonna lie, something about Tommy talking to her so close irritated him. Especially because of the way that Tommy was talking to her, they obviously had a history. The only thing keeping him from intervening was the fact that the girl did not look like she cared to be a part of the conversation.
"A little birdie told me you're not comin' to Tina's tonight, what's that all about babe?" Tommy leaned closer, causing the brunette to grimace.
It took everything she had in her not to shove him away, "Get a life and stay outta mine, Tommy. Besides, I thought you and Carol were gonna go. I mean it's only natural that two of the worst people in this town go together, right?" Her smile was sickeningly sweet. Billy didn't quite understand what was going on, but he found it particularly amusing.
"Come on, D. Don't be like that-"
"Ok listen, I would love to sit here and chat, and by love I mean I'd rather stick a hot iron down my throat, but the more time I spend looking at your face the more nauseated I begin to feel, so I'm gonna just..." Pointing away from him, she made a quick beeline for the door that would lead her to her final destination. She made sure to acknowledge the other two standing there, because Dani Harrington isn't that rude. "Hey mullet," she smiled fondly at Billy, and when her eyes found Carol's it dropped, "skank."
Billy couldn't help the chuckle that broke loose. Carol and Tommy gave him a subtle dirty look, but let it slide.
When Dani had finally walked far enough away that she wouldn't be able to hear them, Billy asked the question he'd been yearning to since yesterday. "Who's that?"
Tommy didn't take his question to mean anything other than blatant curiosity. "Danielle Harrington. Her and I are in a bit of an off again on again relationship."
That made Billy's irritation flare back up. From what he'd seen, it didn't look like Danielle wanted anything to do with Tommy in the least. And for some reason, she didn't seem to like Carol either.
"Harrington?" Billy asked. "You mean like Steve Harrington?"
"Yeah, that's his younger sister," Carol answered this time, "She's a total bitch, the real jealous type. And Tommy and her are not in a relationship, he cheated on her and she dumped his ass."
