You were in a mall having your me-time with frappé on your left hand and your iPod on your right. You were about to get home, for you think that you are already satisfied with the relaxation and unwinding that you did for yourself. But lo and behold, you passed by at a bookstore and saw a magazine with Yoo Young Jae as its cover. You were surprised to see your childhood friend’s face on a famous teen girls’ magazine. You browsed the contents and you read, “A special interview with Yoo Young Jae of B.A.P revealing his real reason behind choosing the life of a pop star”. You became so curious that it made you buy the magazine right away. You arrived home, and the first thing you did is lock yourself up in your room and read the part of the magazine of your childhood friend’s interview. While turning the pages, you still can’t believe that your childhood friend is a famous band member now. And there you are, alone in your room thinking how stupid you are not to know--given the fact that he’s already famous both locally and internationally. Frowning, you prepared yourself to read the whole interview of the famous teen girls’ magazine with Young Jae.
Interviewer: We heard that you used to just be an ordinary boy in a small town but look at you now! All the girls are wanting to be your girlfriend, how does that make you feel?
Young Jae: Oh yes, I am actually a province boy before I joined B.A.P. Really? They want to be my girlfriend? I doubt that (he laughs) Though I am so thankful for all the love and attention my band and I are receiving from them. So, from the bottom of my heart thank you girls.
Interviewer: You are humble and we think that’s one of the many reasons why girls are falling for you--aside from your talent.
Young Jae: (he laughs) You think? Thank you.
Interviewer: So, you know that the main goal of our interview with you is to know your reason in joining show business. Can you please start sharing to us your story about that Young Jae?
Young Jae: Oh yes. Okay. Actually, a lot of people automatically think that when a person chooses to be part of the business; is mainly because of money and fame. Well, I won’t be a hypocrite and say that those things are not included in my reason but I’ll just say that it’s a part--of course. But that is just the first half of the story. Actually, way back in my ordinary life before, there’s this girl that I always liked..
Interviewer: Oh really? Interesting. Can you please tell us more about this special girl of yours?
Young Jae: She’s my childhood friend and I clearly remember that every time I try to ask her of her “ideal type” she always says--with a twinkle in her eyes, “I want someone who’s famous and unreachable. A band member perhaps? I think he’ll be so cool.”
Interviewer: Wow, she really knows what she wants back then huh?
Young Jae: Yes (he shyly laughs) So when she said that--while we’re watching TV--I thought to myself, this girl will only like me if I became that famous-unreachable-band member type of a guy. So from then on, I set my goal in becoming a pop star in the hope to get her attention one day.
Interviewer: Wow. Really?
Young Jae: Yes! And I actually hope that she will be able to get a copy of this magazine (he laughs) for her to know and finally notice me after all these years. I hope I succeeded in becoming her ideal type (he smiles)
Interviewer: Now, we have a very romantic Young Jae right here. We believe that B.A.P fans especially your fans; the brainboxes--will always be loving of you and the other members--whatever happens. So even though we feel that this can be prying, we are just curious. Can you please tell us the name of this special childhood friend of yours? The reason why we have B.A.P’s Yoo Young Jae right now?
Young Jae: (he nervously laughs) Do I really have to tell you her name?
Interviewer: Yes of course. Because as you said, you are hoping that she’ll be able to know about this interview. So it's best that you tell us her name so she won’t be guessing too, right Young Jae?
Young Jae: Oh yes. Okay. Her name, is Angela Perez.
Interviewer: Wow. What a beautiful name she got.
Upon reading your full name in a famous magazine, your jaw dropped in shock. You wanted to finish the whole interview but it seems like that confession of your childhood friend in a magazine drained ALL the energy you can possibly have to continue reading the whole thing. That moment in your bedroom, you just felt incredibly special and beautiful. You never thought that one guy will actually dare to practically dedicate his whole life training, working hard-- just to be the person that you want to be with. Without you knowing, tears started streaming down your cheeks and for the first time you are sure of one thing: that you love this childhood friend of yours. You thought, “After all, he’s still the Yoo Young Jae that I came to know”. Without the name, fame, and fans that he has now. You realized that you have always loved his ordinary self. Without a thought, carrying the magazine with you, you swiftly went off your house to meet your famous- unreachable-type of a guy.
