Leo's P.O.V:
Annoyed, I stalked up to the mustard yellow school bus parked on the side of the road, backpack slung over one shoulder. I had been dreading this day for ages, but of course I had known it was coming. I had just hoped it wouldn't come so soon. School. That one word annoyed me greatly. And the fact that the school buses were mustard yellow (possibly the ugliest colour in the world) dampened my mood even more.
I groaned inwardly, and as if sensing my discomfort, Percy appeared by my side. I groaned again. Don't get me wrong; Percy was a cool guy and I really liked him, but I did not want to hear his cheesy greeting card lecture right now. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy school as such; it wasn't the actual subjects. In fact, I was actually quite good at most subjects. I just hated the idea of being the new kid again and having to face the stares and the rumours and gods knows what else.
"Leo, you actually have to get on the bus, not just stand and stare at it." Percy says in a voice you would use to explain something to a child. What was the word? Condescending, that's it. He's only joking of course, but I'm in the mood where I'm grumpy most of the time and I take everything way too seriously.
"Yeah, whatever." I say, and push past him onto the bus. Ignoring the stares, I move to an empty seat, putting my bag down nest to me. I'm not exactly what you'd call 'sociable'. I guess I inherited that trait from my dad; he prefers being around tools and scrap metal instead of people too.
Percy and Annabeth get on, sitting next to each other behind me, and Piper and Jason sit in front. That leaves Nico, who approaches me.
"Mind if I sit?" He asks, and I raise an eyebrow. "Well it's you or some giggly girl over there." I move my bag onto my lap, and he sits down. The giggly girl in question turns to look at us, but the annoyance radiating off me and the glare Nico was giving her made her turn around. Even I move away from him a little bit. No offense to him or anything, but the kid creeped me out. And I'm pretty sure that if you knew someone capable of raising the dead, they'd freak you out as well.
The bus ride was spent in long, uncomfortable silence, with neither Nico or I making an attempt to talk to the other. Now you may be wondering why six demigods were on their way to school like some normal kids, and I'll tell you. Chiron had decided that the six of us needed a break and to spend time with kids our own age who didn't spend all their time training to fight lethal monsters. And so here we were: six demigods acting like normal teenagers on their way to school.
As soon as the bus stopped the crowd of teenagers inside walked out, the six of us at the back. We walked up to the main office, and the recpetionist took one look at us and broke into a massive grin.
"You must be our new students!" She chirped happily, and we all nodded slowly. This lady was way too happy. You know the type of people you can tell even the most depressing stuff to, and they'll still be happy? Yep, she was one of them. About ten minutes later, all six of us were armed with timetables and homework planners.
I checked my timetable; I had maths first. That wasn't so bad I suppose. Working with angles and stuff for pretty much my whole life had its advantages. The six of us split up in the hallway for class, and I made my way to math. I walked into math late, mainly because I had gotten lost in the hall. Everybody stared at me as I walked in, and the teacher quickly explained that I was new, and told me to take a seat. Sadly, the only seat was next to the giggly girl from the bus and her friend, so I made my way over, dropping my bag by my chair. The teacher came round a moment later with sheets of work for us, and I stared down at mine. It was way too easy. I completed it within five minutes, and handed it in to the teacher, who was obviously shocked. She gave me another sheet that was only slightly harder, and I sat down to do it. Giggly Girl's friend leaned over to me.
"Hi, I'm Daniela. You're cute."
Umm... what?

Hi! Okay first off I need to apologise for not updating. I have been really busy fundraising and babysitting, so please forgive me. Secondly, I hope you all liked the chapter, and I will be updating the second one very soon to make up for the lack of them beforehand. Yep, that's it I think.
