Jessi and I were 'exploring' the place, when a voice called out.
"Run, children. Run! Go before he gets you, go before you fall like the rest of us!"
Fall? What could he be referring to? Death? Or falling in general? I obviously hoped for falling in general, but my gut told me death. Was I going to die a cold-hearted death, or of old age? All these questions bunched up in my brain, and since time was of essence, I couldn't answer them all.
"Do you reckon we're gonna die, Ty?"
I could hear how nervous Jessi was. She was a strong girl, and you could tell just by looking at her, but everyone has their limits. I think Jessi has reached her's.
"Jess, we'll be fine. I mean, we've gotten this far, right? Tell me I'm right, please."
It was the nicest way I could possibly tell her to push on, and do her best at keeping her self together. I couldn't possibly go about with her getting frightened at every small detail.
"Ok, Tyla," she took a deep breath, "You're right, and I'm trusting you on this one."
"Trusting me isn't very smart, but if it means we can push on and get through this, I'll do my best to be trustworthy," I replied with a smile, that I hoped calmed her down.
Of course, that was the perfect time for everything bad that could happen, to happen.
