The Thing

"AAAAAAAAAH!!"

I swear I have never screamed that loud in my life. Ever. Well, maybe I have, considering I don't remember my childhood. Maybe I didn't even have a childhood.... Maybe I'm not even real. I wouldn't be surprised if Jessi and I were in another dimension. It would make sense, with the changing backgrounds... But that is absolutely besides the point.

Once Jessi had turned around and started screaming, everything went hectic. The being behind her charged out of the shadows, and I only got a glimpse of it - that's how fast it was going. I pulled her out of the way of the Thing, and you could feel the wind as it rushed past.

Jessi was stunned, and completely frozen to the spot. I had to drag her a few metres before she snapped out of it and ran with me. She would have gotten first prize for 'fastest person who can run away from their serial killer', if there was such a thing. Not even I could catch up, but that was good. It meant we were progressing well, and getting further and further away from our death. I mean, we only were about, what, 15 years of age?

"Come on, Tyla! You don't want to DIE, do you? Lift your legs higher so there is less of a chance of you stumbling!" I heard Jessi yell this out.

"Don't waste your energy talking to me, just go! I'm right behind you, it's all good!" I yelled back.

I then made a terrible mistake. I looked back. I looked back into those swirling pools of darkness, that I believe was the creature's eyes. I was paralysed. It's eyes were beautiful, yet dark and evil. You could tell that it's intentions we're nowhere close, to good. I looked at the rest of its body. Four paws were attached to strong, muscly legs. It was like a powerful dog, just 3 metres larger. Unlike a dog though, it had no tail, and it's head was like a rock with a face. I knew that I wouldn't win this fight, but that didn't mean I wasn't going down without one.
