Kaneki x Touka (lemons)

Chapter 13

-----Kaneki's POV-----

It had been a month, we had settled in. A group of ghouls showed us to our new home after our arrival, a large beach house on the west coast. My English was already almost fluent from books and school. Although it had been tough adjusting, in general, we were getting on;

We could get away with a lot more here as we were isolated. We had our little family and a constant supply of human flesh, what more could we need? It had been progressively hard to keep myself from shifting so, we mostly stayed near the house. Til I could control myself Touka agreed she'd be working and Hinami would go school.

I am sat in the lounge, Touka cuddled into me. Hinami had gone to bed around an hour ago so, we were watching American YouTubers in order to understand the culture. Underneath my aching arm, I felt Touka yawn.

"Tired?" I flashed her a grin, "Or, are you too tired to go on an adventure?" She immediately sat up, turned to me and, with one look I was in love. Her hair disheveled, eyes half open, an imprint of my jumper on her face yet: the most lively smile I've seen since we met, "God, I love you." I smiled as I realized I said my thoughts out loud. She hid her face in my chest and mumbled, "I love you too, dummy."

-----Time Skip-----

"Yuck Kaneki this is not how I pictured this scenario. This is literally puddles upon puddles in a MUDDY FIELD." I laughed at her and just stayed quiet, she won't regret this. I intertwined our fingers and helped her walk. As we were getting to an upwards incline I was too busy on Touka to realize the swarm of hooded figures ahead of us. In a swift moment we were surrounded, swarmed.

A man came forward, his essence and smell seemed off. He began coming forward, I grabbed Touka's arm pulling her into me. The man stopped in front of us. He dragged a large cloak behind him, it was a light blue golden rimmed.

"Kaneki, Touka. Eyepatch, Rabbit. Finally we meet."  A man with purple hair said as he came closer. He began to grow awfully familiar. 

"Who are you?" Touka asked more taken aback than me, I guess she saw it too.

"I'm a cousin, I guess? I'm not really sure how this all works. Somewhere down the line our grandparents had our parents and, here we are. Anyway, me and my crew run this whole country as such and, we would like you to join us. No catches you may live as peaceful as possible and, as a added bonus we will protect you. All you need to do is help run our local coffee shop but, I'm sure you'll be delighted to hear that. We heard all of this back from Uta in Tokyo, he made my mask! Look isn't it cool?" He soon ran up next to us showing off his new mask. 

Soon his men followed around chatting and bantering. I turned to Touka who seemed in a daze, she hadn't moved in so long. I was still comprehending the situation and the pure luck we had been handed. I was really happy, like super happy. I looked at Touka and hugged her as hard as possible.

"We are gonna be okay?" She breathed out.

"Yeah, we will." I smiled at her the biggest smile I could make.

After about 20 more minutes of mingling the men left leaving me and Touka so, I carried on towards our initial location. After more complaining on Touka's part we came across the place, a beautiful river next to a waterfall.

"Wow, Kaneki this place is amazing!" Touka said dragging my arm towards the river. 

Within seconds we were both in the water, soaked. We both began laughing. I felt so in love with the girl in front of me, she was everything I ever wanted. I think about her all the time. So, I decided I was right, today was the day. As Touka pushed me down again I stayed on my knee and pulled out a small box from my pocket. The water making me shiver a bit before or, maybe I was really nervous.

"Touka will you-" 

"YES"

"-marry me? Guess I was nervous for nothing." I flashed her a massive smile as I placed the ring on her finger. Then as I looked up my breath hitched, as I saw Touka staring straight at me. I leaned in, closing my eyes, and kissed her hard, passionately. All of our emotions were felt in that single moment. So warm, so loving.
