Sometimes we are stuck, stuck in the same routine, with the same people, in the same places. We are trapped in a box that slowly but surely begins to close in. It feels like there is no way out, a nightmare that has become a reality. You are swallowed by your insecurities and fears, drowning in a never ending sea of doubt.
For some these constant things are reassuring, they are comforting. Starting the day the same way, seeing the ones you care for, and knowing your city like the back of your hand is enough. That was me, I liked where I was at in my life because I knew what it held for me. Almost like I knew what my future held, a job that I would quickly get tired of, a family that I would love but would not be ready for, living in the place I grew up in. I would be like my parents, their parents before them, and so on. And at first I didn't think to much of it, I didn't think of what my life could be. Because maybe there isn't just one path that was made for us, maybe our stories have different endings.
It is when you take a look on the other side. When you see things from other point of views, that you can see the greatness inside of you; that you may have not seen. Because being comfortable isn't always living. It is when you are ok with the unknown and go after your dreams, when you no longer are afraid of what happens next but welcome it. When you feel things you have never felt before, when you experience things you never even could imagine, and chase what you've always wanted.
I was always afraid of the future, of what it could hold. But I am not the same girl anymore, and I have come to understand change is not always a bad thing. Change is a chance at new beginnings, it might have taken me longer than others, but I have lived and learned. I will never forget who I am, who I have become, and who I was.
Because in this story, I am my own hero.
