"OIIII! TEZUKA HARUKA! ANSWER ME!"
'Holy crap! My ears!' I winced as I turned around in my chair to see Marui leaning over his table in order to basically shouted in my ears. Maybe I did deserved it for not responding to him, but he was definitely just trying to copy my work.
"Could you please let me see your papers?" he begged.
I was right.
I shook my head and sighed in relief to see the math sensei walked back into the classroom.
"Marui-kun, are you finished?"
"N-no sir!" He quickly sat back down and lowered his head. I could hear him frantically scribbling something down so I looked over my shoulder to see if he had finally solved the math problems. Not to my surprise, he was doodling himself crying in a corner. When he noticed that I was looking at it, he placed his hands on top of his artwork.
"Hey! No copying!"
'Huh?'
"Tezuka-san?" Sensei had walked over to see what was going on and lifted up the papers from my desk. "Hmmm..."
"Tsk tsk," Marui snorted, looking satisfied. He'd probably thought I wasn't done. It was either that or he thought all of my answers were wrong.
Sensei took out his pen and wrote something on the papers before placing them down. "Well done, Tezuka-san. All correct. Now, what about you, Marui-kun? If Tezuka-san was indeed copying off of you, I'm sure you'd be done by now."
Marui's smirked dropped from his face as sensei picked up one of his papers. It was the one that he had just drew on.
"....." No words were exchanged as sensei wrote a big X on his paper and then lightly smacked Marui's head with it. I quickly turned around and covered my mouth as a small smirk formed. I wasn't smiling at his pain. There sure wasn't any. Sensei was joking around and it was just a single piece of paper rolled into a cylinder. What was funny was the fact that Marui's face had turned a bright red tomato.
'Now that was great.'
Lunch was fine. I ended up having it again with the tennis team. Although it was a bit humid today, I couldn't afford to take of my jacket and attract attention to my arm. I had wrapped bandages around the wound to prevent it from reopening. It wasn't that deep but the book cover's edge had ran right down my arm so it left quite a long line. It didn't hurt as well, just kind of stung from time to time.
After lunch, classes went on normally, except the very last one. I think I might have dozed off at some point during last period because I ended up getting an extra assignment. I pouted internally as I finished packing up and headed out.
As I was walking down a pathway leading up to the front of the school, there were some students playing a game on an old tennis court. I kept on walking and noticed that there were no fences around it.
'Hmm...Someone could get hurt if-'
There was clank on the ground and I looked down to see what it was. A tennis racket.
'Jeez. What a mess,' I sighed, bending over to pick up the racket as two other girls were waling past me. Suddenly, there was a loud and odd thud.
'A missed shot...'
"Hey! Watch out!"
'Crap.'
"AHHHH!"
Don't do anything...
Don't let anyone know...
Don't let anyone see it...But I just couldn't let them get hurt...
All these thoughts were rushing through my head as I instinctively sprinted over and swung at the incoming tennis ball before it made contact with one of the girls' head. The ball bounced back and landed perfectly on the corner of the opposing side's court.
I wasn't sure why, but I felt myself smirking ever so slightly. I quickly wiped if off of my face as the two boys ran over after getting over their shock.
"We're so sorry," one started saying. "Hope you're all okay."
The girls said something but I didn't really catch any of it. Then, the other boy looked over at me. "How did you do that?" he asked.
'I shouldn't have done that,' I sighed, deep in thought and totally didn't hear what the boy asked at all. 'I could have just stopped the ball or hit it somewhere else. Ugh!'
I ruffled my hair out of frustration, giving the racket to one of the boys with my other hand and walking away.
While being very confused with myself, I didn't took into consideration that someone could be standing in front of me and bumped right into them. I started backtracking when they grabbed me by my arms to prevent me from falling. They weren't squeezing me, but because I had a wound, I winced.
"Are you alright?"
That voice...Why does it have to be him?
It was Yukimura-senpai.
