Little to no words were exchange as we sat across the table from each other, both staring into our cups of tea. After having bumped into Yukimura-senpai near the tennis court, he quickly grabbed my hand and led me to a nearby cafe. No sooner had we taken our seats at the very end than we spot a group of girls running passed. Yukimura-senpai's fangirls.
It was pretty quiet, besides the sound of a piano being played in the background. There weren't many people around as it was almost time for closing. I looked out the window to see the clouds turning slightly darker as the minutes passed. Feeling senpai's eyes on me, I turned to face him. He didn't even try to avoid me at all as he let out a soft sigh and leaned back in his chair. I could tell he wanted to ask a lot of questions but knew I wasn't ready to answer. He simply made up his mind to not pressure me, thinking that, when the time comes, I'd tell him myself.
"I'll walk you home," he said and sipped his tea. "It's going to rain soon."
I nodded my head, looking down at the cup in between my hands. The surface of the tea rippled along with the sound of the piano. Somehow, at that exact moment, I found it to be quite peaceful and relaxing. I didn't want to leave. Again, I could feel his gaze upon me.
"Would you like to take a walk?"
"Yes..." I answered as it started raining outside.
Walking down the road under Yukimura-senpai's umbrella, I felt a bit strange. We were so close to each other. It wasn't like I forgot my umbrella. It also wasn't my intention of letting a guy walked me home either. I just didn't bring it because I like the rain. When we stopped at a red light, I took a step to the side and out from under the umbrella. Senpai was about to moved over to cover me, but I could hear him stopped as I closed my eyes and lifted my head up. I don't know why, but I just love the feeling of rain falling over me. Maybe it was refreshing in a sort of way. Maybe it was dripping down my face like my invisible tears. Maybe it was washing away all my worries and fears.
I opened my eyes to see the walking sign turning green and started crossing the street with senpai at my side. He had put away his umbrella and was smiling ever so slightly, with his blue-ish black strings of hair covering his face. Once we reached the other side of the road, I stopped and reached over to move his hair away from his eyes. Those blue gems widened slightly as did my golden ones as I suddenly realized what I had done. Swiftly turning away, I could hear him chuckled.
"Thank you," he whispered, coming closer behind me. "Your eyes are very beautiful."
"..." I tightened my grip around the strand of my backpack, not sure how to respond like a normal human being. Making matters worse, senpai's hand suddenly brushed against the back of my other hand. This time, I forgot how to breathe.
Luckily, my house was just around the corner. I quickly muttered a thank you before rushing for the door. Then, running up to my room was the plan, but that plan didn't go as plan when I heard senpai sneezed just as I was about to close the door behind me.
"Senpai?"
He turned around and looked at me, still smiling. "Was is it?"
I glanced to the side. His smile was really... Nii-sama interrupted my thoughts, coming to the door at this point and motioning for senpai to come in. "You should come inside, Yukimura. We'll drive you home once the storm passes." He then turned to me. "Go get change before you get sick."
I nodded and headed up to my room as senpai entered the house, Nii-sama closing the door behind him. "Thanks for walking her home. Make yourself comfortable while I go get a change of clothes for you."
The storm didn't pass until dinner time. To show their gratitude, my parents insisted on Yukimura-senpai staying for a meal. Brother didn't seem too please about it. Neither was he the last time the Rikkaidai tennis team showed up. It wasn't like he wasn't grateful to any of them. He just don't like it when there are other men in the house besides father and himself.
Dinner went well...I guess. The meal itself was great. At the table, however, while friendly conversations were made to our guests, senpai and I just kept glancing at each other. It didn't feel bad. It wasn't awkward either. No. It was nothing like that. It just felt...weird. Odd. Strange. But definitely not awkward. I'm not sure how to describe it. I don't know why I was feeling like that. What was I feeling exactly anyways? Who knows...Only time will tell...I guess.
Afterwards, father drove senpai home. I got ready for bed and was about to turn off my light when Nii-sama knocked on the door. He came in and leaned on the side of the door frame.
"You okay?"
I nodded.
"Good..." he said. Something was on his mind, I could tell. Whatever it was, he brushed it off and straightened himself up. "Go lay down. I'll turn it off for you."
I did as I was told and cuddled up in my blanket. "Night."
"Sweet dreams, little sis."
Sweet dreams...
I don't even know what those are anymore.
'...maybe.......' I reached up to touch my cheek. It felt slightly, just slightly...warmer than usual. 'Maybe I'm just sick. Yeah...yeah...'
