"Nikki..." You started, not wanting to give in. It wasn't the first time you had threatened to leave. It wasn't even the third time. You had warned him several times before that if he kept making you wait up all night for him or if he continued to put his life in danger, you were going to leave him for the sake of your own mental health. "I love you, more than anyone or anything. But, I have to love myself too, at least enough to put my foot down and say enough is enough. I have to make the choice that's best for me, and I'm sorry, but you're just not good for me right now."

"No, I can change. I swear to God, I would do it for you."

You softly shook your head as you had finished putting the first drawer's contents into your bag and said, "That's not enough. I need you to do it for yourself. When you love yourself enough to fully love me, come find me. I'll be waiting. But just know, I'm not going to wait around forever."

With that, neither of you said another word, and that was because you both knew that you were right. You and Nikki understood that this was what needed to happen, as much as neither of you wanted to accept it. And, it was quite clear that neither of you wanted to, due to the sniffs and quiet sobs that filled the room as you finished packing your things.

By the time you had gathered all of your belongings, you were composed enough to make a phone call to Vince's sister, Val. You had known her and Vince long before Motley Crue existed, having been best friends since high school. You knew that she was one of the few people that would let you stay with them for the time being. Of course, anyone in the band would have taken you in, but you were trying to distance yourself from Motley for a little while.

You dialed her number and waited for her to pick up, seeing from the corner of your eye that Nikki's figure had taken a seat on the stairs next to your things. A pang of remorse shot through you for a second when you saw him hunched over with his head in his hands, but Val's upbeat voice was enough to distract you from the painful sight.

"Val, it's me, Y/N."

"Y/N!" she exclaimed. "How've you been?"

"Actually, I um... I need to ask you a huge favor. There's been some complications around here, and I need a place to stay until things get sorted out... if that's no trouble."

"Of course. Anything you need. What happened?"

"Well, I can explain that later. I'm just going to walk over now, if that's okay." Val lived only a few blocks away.

"Sure, that's fine. I'll see you soon," she said with a worried undertone to her otherwise cheerful voice.

After hanging up, you peered over at Nikki, who didn't look any different from the last time you had glanced at him. His mind was racing.  He never could have expected that he would drive you to the point of leaving, but he figured he should have.He knew that he wasn't being fair to you, and he hated himself for letting it go on for so long.

You sighed as your eyes started to glaze over, slowly walking over to retrieve your bags. He stood up when he heard your bags shifting. You took the chance to kiss him on the cheek before you left, his tears moistening your lips in a way that was so heart-wrenching, you almost couldn't bring yourself to say goodbye.

In truth, you didn't know what would happen once you walked out of the door. You didn't know if Nikki would really change or if he would even come after you like you had asked him to. Though, it wasn't like you saw each other that much anyway, so you wondered how different the change would be, realistically speaking. The thought that he would give up on trying to pursue you after you left... it was terrifying. But, you couldn't let that keep you from doing what you knew was best.
