"Careful Rick, you might suffocate poor Y/N."

"She can breathe just fine," Rick countered, speaking through your hair as he tightly wrapped his arms around you. You were seated on his lap, smiling contentedly while waiting for Def Leppard's call time to go on stage. Rick had his face buried in your shoulder and you could feel soft wisps of air against your skin every time he exhaled.

You decided to tease Rick and said, "Actually, I do feel a bit winded." You felt his tight hold on you immediately lesson, which prompted you to turn and look at Rick's worried face. You gave him a smirk and uttered a short laugh before he realized you were joking and rolled his eyes, squeezing you even tighter than he did before.

"That wasn't funny," he said into your shoulder, his muffled voice clearly pouting.

You gave Joe a knowing look, to which he started to burst out laughing at. You felt Rick lift his head, probably to scowl at Joe. To calm him down from your teasing, you settled your hands on top of his arms, rubbing them gently with your thumbs. It wasn't often Rick was this sensitive, but it was justified in the sense that the two of you had been apart from each other since the start of the tour, which was four months ago.

It was different when the two of you were just dating. Back then, he could leave for long periods of time and come back as if he had just seen you yesterday. But now that you were married, it was like he was leaving a huge part of him behind. In the first couple of years of your marriage, he insisted that you tour with him. He was fully convinced that he wouldn't last a tour without you.

For those first two years, you actually did tour with him. Spending so much time with your husband and best friends was like a dream come true. You would have lived that way forever if you could. You loved life on the road, or in the studio, whichever came next.

Though, the picture became much bigger soon after that when your daughter came along. Now, it wasn't just you and Rick, it was Madelyn too. Rick loved Madelyn so deeply. It was clear that she was the most precious thing in the world to him, apart from you. That was why it was so much harder on him for these last three years. Not only did he have to go on tour without you, but he also had to leave his baby girl behind. He had never been so hesitant about leaving home before her, but you persuaded him to keep following his dreams no matter what.

"Did you really miss me that much Ricky?"

"More than you know, Darling."

"You sure?"

"Quite sure," he settled his chin on your shoulder after giving it a quick peck. "I miss Madelyn too. Was she upset when you left her with Mum?"

"No," you sighed, trying to be casual even though the excitement inside you was bubbling over. Rick was in for a surprise, and he was perfectly unsuspecting. "She didn't really fuss. Besides, I'm only visiting you guys on tour for a couple of days. She'll hardly know the difference."

"Call we call her?"

"She's only three, Rick. Surely she's sleeping by now. At least I hope your mum has put her down by now."

"Oh. Well, at least I have you here, Y/N. Would you like your anniversary gift now, or later on?"

"Let's wait till later," you said. "I'm sure you guys will have to go on any minute now."

Just then, Def Leppard's manager could be heard from the hallway, rounding up all of the guys to get ready to go. You stood up, removing yourself from Rick's lap and holding your hands out for him to take. You pulled him up from the couch as he started to stand. Before leaving, he settled his hands on your hips and brought his face closer to yours. The kiss was short, but sweet. Rick just lingered there, studying your face with a smile on his lips, almost as if to memorize it for these next few hours that you would be apart.

"Go on, don't want to get in trouble now, do we Mr. Savage?" You asked, coyly. His grin only grew, and you couldn't help but give him one more kiss. "Go," you said again.

"Right then, after you." He waved his hand in front of him, allowing you to lead the way to the stage. You watched almost all of their set from the side of the stage, only leaving when it was time to go retrieve your daughter from one of the rooms backstage that the boys knew nothing about. You had the band's manager look after her while you kept Rick and the rest of the boys distracted, trusting that she would be safe in his hands. And, of course she was.

You knew that Rick planned on dedicating the last song of the night to you, and were sure that he had some sort of brief speech prepared. So, you seized the opportunity and brought your daughter on stage right when he was least expecting it. He had called you to join him on the stage before he started his speech, but was left without any words when he saw Madelyn in your arms, brightly smiling his way.

You couldn't help but laugh at his reaction, his mouth almost gaping open as you and your daughter walked towards him. All of their fans at this point were cheering and aweing at the scene before them. None of the guys had expected it either, but they didn't interfere. They just smiled and watched as the three of you had a family moment.

"Madelyn, my sweet baby girl! Come here, Darling! Come to Daddy!" Rick cooed, not caring if he looked soft. You handed your daughter over to him, unable to control your elated laughter as he repeatedly kissed her all over her face. You could faintly hear Madelyn's giggles over the crowd, warming your heart to no end.

You came closer to him, gently caressing his arm and said, "I hope you like your present."

"Oh, Sweetheart," he said. "This is the best anniversary gift I could have ever gotten."

"Good," you beamed. "I love you."

He carefully held your daughter out of the way while leaning forward to kiss you before returning the sentiment, "Happy five years, Love."
