Chapter two

The morning sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over Munachi's room. She had woken up with a newfound determination to move past the harrowing events of the previous night, though she knew the memory would linger in her mind like a shadow. She took a refreshing shower, washing away the remnants of fear and distress, and dressed herself in a mermaid green lace gown and a pair of black heels, borrowed from her roommate Nancy.

As she adjusted the dress in front of the mirror, Munachi couldn't help but marvel at how it complemented her figure. The vibrant color lifted her spirits, and she felt a glimmer of confidence return. Last night's ordeal had robbed her of her belongings, including the fifty thousand naira she had set aside for pocket money and groceries, not to mention her bags, phones, and everything else. The thought of retracing her steps to recover her possessions hadn't crossed her mind – in truth, she had no idea of the exact location where the traumatic incident had occurred. Her best option was to call her father, explain her predicament, and hope he would believe her and send some much-needed financial assistance.

Munachi was interrupted by Nancy, who emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a casual brown bum short and a white singlet. Munachi couldn't help but notice how effortlessly Nancy seemed to embrace the relaxed student life.

"Thanks," Munachi replied to Nancy's compliment on her outfit. "Aren't you going to church?"

Nancy let out a tired sigh, her voice heavy with reluctance. "No...o," she drawled.

Munachi chuckled, shaking her head. "You never change. This is your second year, you know."

Nancy playfully pushed her out of the room. "Okay, it's time for you to go. And pray for me, please!"

Munachi grinned, knowing Nancy's aversion to early morning activities. "Yes, madam," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of sarcasm.

She got to church quickly in lecture hall two, it was a short walk from her lodge to the hall in which the service was held. She attended RCF even though she was a catholic by birth and in Abuja, she loves the order of the service, the preaching and especially their follow up wing and Bible study wing, she also love the closeness to her lodge, a walkable distance.

Today she is going to give a testimony for the first time since she started RCF and she is also going to thank God for saving her, for sending a good Samaritan her way in the place of Sochi.

The service was a short one since the Sunday was a double service Sunday. She gave her testimony and everyone listened with rapt attention and some held a pitiful look even when she got back to her seat the lady sitting next to her was treating her like a delicate flower.

She walked back to her lodge with Sonia her course mate who stayed in camp fidelis opposite her lodge. When the got to their lodge the separated ways, she entered Porsche villa and went straight to her room upstairs.

" Aah! This one RCF close sharparly today wetin hapun( what happened that RCF closed quickly today)" Nancy asked as she walked in throwing her scarf on the bed and pulling the shoe.

" Double service. Is there food in the house? Aswear I'm hungry" she said zipping down her dress and putting on a short and a big shirt which she borrowed from Nancy.

" Food dey, na jollof rice( there's food, it's jollof rice)" Nancy replied and went back to chatting on her phone.

Munachi wished she had her phone with her, she would have been reading the stupid comments on people's picture on Facebook or she would have been chatting on WhatsApp. She silently ate her food in deep thoughts.
