"Bella! If you don't come down right now Charlie is going to eat all the pancakes!" My twin/best friend Anya screamed.

"I'll come down in a second!"I shouted back.

Today was a really important day for me. It was my thirteenth birthday. It also was Anya's, but she never really went big on them.  Today was August thirty and I was so ready to celebrate. I had planned to wing it. Yeah not the most brilliant idea but it would be the most fun. You didn't have to plan to the millisecond. I  had planned an outline at least. Anya and I would go into the city. The city was only allowed for people with magic running in their blood but Anya and I could go in there for some reason. Once, we tried to bringing Charlie but he got blocked out by an  invisible barrier. In the end we decided to ditch him because he probably was just going to babble to the parents. Maybe we could ride the floating train or go on one of those terrifying cafes that you have dance through to get food or be dropped, I thought. We were going to do something epic today. It was our first day as teenagers and we were going to make the most of it.

I looked in the long, black framed mirror. Sparkling grey eyes that had long lashes framing them meet my gaze. I had a smile on that looked as if I had was hiding a tasty secret from you. My dark chocolate hair hung straight, tumbling past my shoulders and ending at the middle of my ribs. A few strands of hair framed my pale face and pink lips and always blushing cheeks. I had on a white shirt that went down a little on the sides. My pants were my favorite, skinny jeans with few rips. I had on my trusty black combat boots.

I breathed in and out. You are going to own this day, I thought to my mirror self. Taking one last look, I ran to the kitchen.

"Hey! Bird brain! Stop taking all the pancakes. Some other people need them to." I said to my brother Charlie as I swiped a couple pancakes off the plate before he could take them.

Charlie was only fifteen, two years older than me, and he ate a lot. He never really gained weight though so it was really unfair. I scowled at him and he meet me with a piercing gaze from his hazel eyes. To think of it, my whole family, Mum, Dad, Charlie, and baby Livy, had hazel eyes except Anya and I. I had grey, almost like melted silver, and Anya's was lilac.

I grabbed the syrup bottle and drenched my pancakes in syrup.

"You still do that Flower!?!"my sister questioned me exasperated.

Anya always called me Flower because I had a green thumb and of my name. In return I called her Sunshine because she always smiled when the sun was out, which was almost never since it rained so much here in London.

"Yes Sunshine. I need sugar today and you need some too. You eat your pancakes plain for crying out loud!" I shot back.

I ate up my pancakes in a flash and me and Anya exited the room but were stopped by our parents.

"Before anyone goes anywhere we are going to have a meeting in the sitting room." Mum announced.

Me and Anya shot each other the same concerned gaze. We never ever had family meetings. And if we ever had a family meeting, something was definitely wrong.

We filled the room and did sat in the love seat.

"First of all, happy birthday to Rose and Anya. This is a special age for you. The age where everything starts."Mum said in her sing-song voice.

The age where everything starts? I thought. All we are doing is turning thirteen. Yeesh.

"We also have something to share about you twins," dad said in a gruff voice. "When you were born you guys were special. Everyone saw that. It was very obvious."

Mum cut in. "You two had a bright aura around you. You guys were also born with special colored eyes. We thought this was just a gift to us, that you guys looked a little special. But we got a letter."

"Oh! Can I tell the twins! Please mum. Please dad!" Charlie begged.

I turned to my sister. Where is this going, my eyes said. I have no bloody idea, hers said.

"Yes  Charlie. You can tell the two." My mum sighed.

"Ok. Ready to be blown away. You guys got accepted into Bosgyn Elite!" Charlie's exclaimed.

Anya an I gasped. That was a prestigious school in Paris, the magic capital. It was very hard to get into and you had to have magic running in your blood.

"Wait a second. To get in you have to have magic running in your blood. We aren't magical at all." I said puzzled.

"We have to tell you something else sweethearts. Usually, on children's thirteenth birthday they are sometimes gifted with magical powers. And right now you guys are showing something of it." Our mum chuckled.

I gasped. I hadn't noticed this before but Anya and I were floating up and up. I grabbed onto the ceiling and pushed off, flying around the room. I laughed. I flew next to the bay windows, overlooking the garden. I immediately fell. Anya flew down gracefully and rushed to my side.

"What's wrong Rose?" Anya asked, her voice drenched in concern.

I stared at mum and dad. "If we go to Bosgyn Elite that means we have to leave you guys here." I said as a statement and a question.

Our parents looked down. "Yes, that means you have to leave us. But this is an opportunity of a life time. Are you willing to pass up this adventure. I mean you can't exactly stay in this boring town forever, can you darlings." Dad said with a sad smile.

"This isn't an opportunity to pass up. We have to take it. School does start on September seven an we have a couple days to prepare. We need to wait to see which magic runs through our very own veins. What do you say Flower. Are you ready for this adventure?" Anya said with a daring smile on her face.

"I am ready to take up this adventure with you Sunshine." I said with the same exact smile.

If I had my twin/best friend by my side I was positively sure I was going to be all right.
