Toy Story 3: The Holocaust
Have you ever compared Toy Story 3 to the Holocaust? Or to The Pianist, a movie based on the holocaust? You'd be surprised by your findings.
WARNING!!! THIS STORY MAY MAKE YOU OBSSESSED OVER MAKING SURE YOUR FAMILY NEVER WATCHES TOY STORY 3 EVER AGAIN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Andy is seventeen now, he's getting ready for college. His old toy friends aren't what they used to mean. They're childs play. So he decides to abandon them... ahum! The toys are left behind, just as Host Nations left behind the Jews as the Third Reich conquered Europe. Woody holds a meeting where the toy family then begins talking about their possible outcomes. If you change a few words it's the exact scene at the train station from The Pianist. "No, we won't be abandoned. Surely we can be useful to them somehow. Yes, we've lost friends (Bo Peep), but surely that can't happen to us." Buzz Lightyear stands foreward and suggest they take refuge IN AN ATTIC!!! (If that doesn't prove my point don't worry I have more) A car comes for the toys who are all in garbage bags now and they are taken to Sunny Side. They haven't been exterminated yet but they are instead put to work. When they arrive they meet the toy version of Sonderkommando, toys who stay well fed and sheltered (a.k.a. Ken and his Dreamhouse) while leading other toys to their certain deaths in the Catterpillar room where little non-appropriate aged kids destroy them. Once destoryed they are placed in the trash chute. This metalic area soon leads to...(guess what) the fiery crematoria. Our heroes however don't die they are saved and get to live life in a new homeland. It's where many of their kind already live and have established a foothold. It appears that security and safety is once again at hand if they are vigilant.
Opinions:
I truly agree with this comparison. You may not, however I do. I was too old to really get into the whole Toy Story 3 craze when it came out. But somehow I got myself dragged into seeing it anyway. This is sad yes, however it shows history in it if this is truly what they meant for it. If I were an adult with kids I'd allow my kids to still watch it but whether you do or don't well that's up to you. I just truly hope you found the connecting dots. :)
