The Return

I spun around looking everyone, no one noticing my presence. Everything is upside down and sideways. Things went on during my absence. Friends turned on each other and truths came out the shadows. My friends are broken. We all realized that things were no longer the same. Who slept with who, cheated and lied.

All my secrets that I kept close were coming out. I could no longer hide. It feels as though all eyes land on me as that thought comes to mine. Soon the whispers had started. Whispered questioned whipped around the air like a fierce wind.

Things were once held close to us are no longer true and there. People promised they would stay, have left. Those we thought were kind and honest, are fake. It seems as though we all have secrets and things we keep hidden. I can see that now.

The nice world we knew has corrupted and shattered. Shadows, we kept at bay, are creeping ever closer. Hatred flickering like flames licking the edges and crawling up. The sickening drama twisting your stomach into knots.

I glance around for those I used to call my friends. They are shattered and split up like a broken glass. No matter how much you try, they will never go back to how they were. Neither will I. I am me and that is all that I want to be.
