Chapter 7:

I was teaching the exercise class outside by the pool. Okay, bring those knees up as high as you can and circle those arms. I said to the class. "Hey, water bug. I heard Nate say from behind me. I turned around to face him with a smile. "Last night was so fun. I really didn't mean to get you in trouble. Nate said to me.

Same here. I said to him.

"So, uh, maybe today we can our... Nate started to say when we heard someone knocking on the glass of the window of the country club.

"Nate! We heard Yancy yell. We turn around to see her holding a sign that said 'See Fulton now!.

Nate ignored that and turned back to me. Uh, what time is your lunch break? Nate asked me.

Before I could answer, Yancy banged on the glass again, holding up the sign again.

Nate looked at me. 1:30. I told Nate.

"1:30, great. Free cheeseburgers on me. Nate told me before turning to the class that was in the pool. Everyone looks great. Awesome job. Nate said to them before walking away. As Nate walked away, Rosa walked over an stood next to me.

"Okay, now some jumping jacks". I shouted to the class and turned to Rosa.

"Hey. Rosa said to me. "What is she up to? Rosa asked me while looking at Yancy.

"Who knows. I said looking at Yancy too.

"Believe me, she does. Rosa said.

Carrying the box of burgers that Nate planned to buy us, I walked down to the golf course. I was walking down the steps to the golf course when I heard someone running up to me.

Hey, purple Princess. Hugh called out as he came up next to me. I turned to look at the golf course, where I saw Nate dressed in a snazzy uniform, wearing fancy shoes and talking to... Yancy. Rosa drove her kart up beside us as Hugh and I stopped walking and looked at Nate.

"That girl's got more moves than an octopus in a wrestling match. Rosa spoke from behind us.

"Nah. Hugh said as he shrugged. "He knows how to swim. Hugh said.

"Yeah. I agreed with Hugh. Nate can handle himself. I said.

"I did overhear him asking her for her opinion on his new Italian shoes. Rosa told me.

"He didn't ask me. I said sadly.

"So wake up, sister. She's basically offering him a college education just to sing with her in the talent show. Rosa told me.

"Nate would never do that. Hugh tried to enlighten the situation.

"You got eyes, use them. Rosa told Hugh.

"Let's go eat. I said to them sadly before walking away from them.

Rosa and I were eating lunch in the kitchen. Both of us were slient. I barely touched my burger as I was just sitting. Everyone inside the kitchen was bursting a gut, trying to keep up with the orders.

"Lucas, Nate wants more Swiss. I heard Hugh says angrily from behind me. "You know, you were right. Hugh said and I turned around to see him standing behind Rosa and me, looking down at us looking furious. "There's a guy out there that looks like Nate Kyouhei but I don't know who he really is. Hugh said. I just look away sadly. Hugh sat down between us and took a chip off of Rosa's plate and eating it.

As I opened the door after my shift ended to find Nate, shooting hoops in the membership basketball court, I let out a small smile. I noticed he was wearing a new jacket.

"Look at you. I said as I walked towards him. He turned around and looked at me.

"Yeah, it's a gift from the guys. Nate said as he spun around showing me the jacket.

"The guys? I asked Nate. Nate tossed me the basketball, which I caught. "Oh, you mean those tall people. I said turning to the hoop.

"Yeah, yeah. Nate said as I shoot the basketball and it went in. Look, I got to go in a minute, but I'll be back in about an hour. I'll pick you up in my new truck, and we'll go to the movies. I promise. Nate said bouncing the basketball to me.

Promise is a really big word, Nate. I said throwing the ball back to him.

"Yeah, I know. Nate said as he walked past me.

"And we got the staff baseball game after work. Remember, you promised you'd play. I said.

"Right, right. Baseball. I will absolutely meet you there. Nate said before turning back to the hoop and went to shoot again.

"You forgot, didn't you? I asked him before he could shoot again.

"No, I just got the date mixed up. Nate said. And I'm sorry I couldn't make it to lunch today. It's just been wild, you know? I can't believe how things are working out here. Nate said.

"So I see. Italian golf shoes, new clothes, golf carts. It's crazy stuff. Hard to keep track of it all, I bet. I said as I smiled sadly at him.

"So, what's your point? Nate asked as he shrugged his.

"It just doesn't seem like new stuff, it seems like a new Nate. I said sadly to Nate.

Nate frowned at me hearing this before we could exchange words, a van pulled up behind Nate. Just at that same moment, Hugh, Lucas, and Rudy came out.

"Alright, let's see if Tiger Wood still has a jump shot. Hugh said walking towards us.

"Hey, hey, Kyouhei! "The tall guys said from the van shouted at Nate who was beyond frowning at this point. "Come on! Hop it! They said.

"Hey! Nate said as he waved back.

"Why don't you tell them to come over here and mix it up? We'll show them some game. Lucas offered.

"You know, uh, Nate said awkwardly. I don't think that's how they roll. Nate said.

I started in shock at this new Nate said that as Hugh asked him in an equally hurt tone as me. That's not how they roll? Hugh asked.

"No, no, no, that's not what I meant. I just think it's a closed practice. Sorry. Nate said looking at us apologetically.

'Wow. Well, maybe you could get us a video. Hugh spoke harshly.

Nate looked hurt until the tall guys in the van kept hollering and honking the horn.

OH MY GOD!!!! SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU ASSWHOLES!!!!!!!!!!! I shrieked at them. I'm scared now. Rudy mumbles to Hugh. I walked up to the van. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ASSHOLES ARE HUH!?!?!?!! I yelled before breaking one of the mirrors on the van. I walk away towards my friends. Let's go guys. I said. I looked at Nate shaking my head as he got in the van and the tall guys drove away.

Wow. Remind me never to get on your bad side Y/n. Rudy said scared. I'm sorry you saw that ,guys. I look down embarrassed. No need to be embarrassed Y/n. You let your anger out. It's not your fault. Hugh said placing a hand on my shoulder. Come on. We walked back inside.
