Chapter 9:

Music was blaring. People were dancing. Today, Curtis was rehearsing everyone for the Star Dazzle Talent Show in a few days. I was really having a good time with the Wildcats and Curtis. He was a really good teacher too. Curtis instructed everyone on how to move and what do to. He deserves to win this award.

Pretty soon, Curtis grabbed my hand as he pulled us along to dance with the others, both of us skipping around, having fun.

Once the music ended, I was out of breath.

Everyone cheered and clapped as Curtis praised them all. All of the Wildcats left the room, cheering their way on.

"Good job. I said and laughed as I hugged Curtis.

"Thank you. Curtis said bashfully.

"No problem. I said smiling at him.

I started to walk out of the room to follow everyone else.

"I'll see you around. I said right after I got out of the room.

May I have your attention, please. Rosa said, walking into the kitchen, holding papers.

Everyone was in the kitchen having fun, goofing off like we always do. That is until Rosa got our attention. She looked serious and upset in contrast to our bright moods.

You guys, I have to make an announcement. Rosa continued, standing in the middle of the kitchen.

I furrowed my eyebrows as I approached her cautiously and throwing glancing at my brothers confused. They have the same look as me.

"All junior staffers will be required to work on the night of the show. Rosa announced.

What? All of us said as our eyes widened in disbelief.

"Yeah, it says 'No staff participation in the show will be allowed. No exceptions. Rosa said reading off the papers she held.

I took the paper from her and looked it over with Fire and Red, shaking our heads in disbelieve.

"No show. Dawn said and she sounded more than disappointed.

"There's a show, we're just not in it. Rosa responded. Everyone muttered under their breaths from the news. I'm sorry, you guys. There's nothing we can do about it. It's Fulton's orders. Rosa said to all of us, handing each of us a piece of paper.

Hugh shook his head. No. There's no way that Fulton was behind this. Hugh said.

"Unless Fulton suddenly had pink hair and wears designer flip-flops. Dawn said.

I shook my head with tears forming in my eyes. I pushed through everyone. Excuse me. I said running out of the kitchen to look for Yancy.

I found her by the outside pool with her three sidekicks laughing.

"Yancy". I said walking over to them. That made them all stop laughing. Yancy got up from the table she was sitting on, putting her drink down, and followed me. Forget about the rest of us. How about the fact your brother worked extremely hard on the show. I said getting pissed at her.

"Oh, boo hoo. He'll be in the show. He'll do his celebrities impersonations. And don't lecture me about Curtis. Giving the way you've been interfering with Nate's future. Yancy said to me.

"What? I asked shocked, confused, and angry at the same time.

You've got him written up by Fulton for sneaking on the golf course. Swimming after hours. I had to step in just to save Nate's job. Yancy told me.
