"Bring the damn vegetables here right now!" The King boomed across the dinner table - pounding his fist against it in the process. "My wife - she needs goodness to raise our child!"

"It's OK, my love," she soothed, stroking his arm in a calm, peaceful manner.

"NOW!" He roared, voice going hoarse. As soon as his servants' backs were turned, he let out a muted whimper and covered his face with his hands.

His timid wife lifted her arms from beneath the table and moved to cup his face in her hands. His silver tipped stubble had grown long and rough and scratched against her gentle hands. "I love you," she whispered, kissing his tears away and looking into his shining eyes. "We made one mistake. But we learn from it and we can fix it."

He looked up into her clear, blue eyes and muttered: "I made the mistake. I chose what society wanted rather than what we wanted. What we wanted as a family. Me, you and our son."

She looked across at the boy in the cradle.

Someone else's son.
