In the middle of the night I wake to yelling.
"you idiot!"
"at least I didn't have a miscarriage at the age of sixteen!"
There is silence
"you bastard..."
Jess slams into my room.
"I heard everything." I say as soon as the door opens. Jess nods and she begins to talk about how stupid he is. After a while, Jess returns to her room. Judging by how quiet it is I know that he is asleep.
Morning comes and I go down to eat breakfast.
"Today we are going to visit grandmother and Grandfather Wonsworth." me and jess groan as mum says this. "and you need to wear your dresses" we groan even more, but at least the dresses are pretty.
After a while I and Jess arrive at the main manor (where grandmother and grandfather Wonsworth live) I ring the bell as Jess fiddles with the hem of her dress, visiting our grandparents was a very nervous time for us.
Betsy, their maid, opens the door and tells us to go to the sitting room. When we get there i softly knock of the door and the butler opens it. Our grandparents nod at us."Who wrote the correct ladylike etiquette Cassiopeia?" grandmother Wonsworth says. She doesn't even look at us.
"um. Barbara Wiltson?" I guess remembering how I didn't even pick up the book when they got it for me. Grandfather Wonsworth isn't even acknowledging our presence. Grandmother Wonsworth gives a hum of approval.
Me and Jess sit down and prepare to be bored out of our lives."so how was it?" mum asks when we arrive.
"same old same old. Being bored out of our lives!" Jess answers. I grin at her.
"I also expect that you ate?" mum asks after trying not to smile at jess's comment.
