“Darling! It’s time for dinner!” Your mom shouted from the dining room. You shut your laptop and walked downstairs. “What’d you make mum?” You said taking your seat at the end of the table. “Tacos, your favorite.” She said bringing your plate in front of you. She, your dad, and brother did the same. The four of you ate and exchanged a normal day-to-day conversation. “Tommy,” Your mom said to your brother. “Yes mommy?” He looked up with meat and cheese painted across the corners of his mouth. “If you’re finished would you please take your plate in the kitchen and go play upstairs?” “Sure mommy!” Tommy scooted out of his chair and ran along. “Why’d you make Tommy leave?” You said crunching into a bite of your taco. “We need to talk to you about something.” Your mother said grabbing your father’s hand. You looked at both of them as you continued munching. Swiftly swallowing, you took a sip of your drink and asked them to continue. “You see honey, we want you to have a successful life when you grow up,” your father spoke. “And having a successful man in your life will insure you do that,” Your mother added. “Oh no, we’re not having this talk again, are we? I know, I know you’re supposed to find that one person who really loves you before you try anything I’m not a child mom I get it.” You rushed your sentence. You started to make your way to the kitchen. “No dear, that’s not it.” Your mother said, causing you to stop and turn in their direction. “Then what is it?” You said in slight suspicion. “We’ve found the boy we think will help you be the strong woman we want you to be,” you stood motionless. Not wanting to understand what you were hearing. “His name is Chad. His parents are a good friend of your mother’s and I. Their boy is very polite, well mannered, has a great inheritance and a brilliant career path for his future. This kind of man will be the one to take you where you need to be.” Your dad claimed. You looked at them with a face of mixed confusion, shock, and anger. They were basically arranging your marriage. “Are you kidding me?” You laughed out. “Honey-“ “No!” You cut your mother off. “(Y/N)! You listen to your parents when they’re talking to you. Now apologize to your mother!” “You’re telling me I’m only allowed to have a future if I’m with this rich guy?” You said ignoring your father. “He has a bright future ahead of him and you being in that picture will provide you and your family with a safe security!” He snapped back at you. “But that’s not fair! What if I don’t want to be with him? What if I’m meant to be with someone else?!” Your parents looked at you in horror, you returned the favor. They couldn’t believe you’d have the mind to disobey them and you couldn’t believe they would force you into something like this. “(Y/N) You are going to listen to your parents!” “No! I’m not!” “You live under our roof! You follow our rules!” “You’re rules shouldn’t be so absurd!!!” “Mommy? Why are you yelling?” a small voice came from across the room. You and your parents backed out of each other’s faces to see Tommy standing, blanket in hand at the bottom of the stair case. Your mother let out a small sigh and comforted him. “Nothing sweetie, daddy’s gonna take you back up to bed now okay?” She said as your father made his way to him. “Okay, goodnight” he smiled back. “Good night Tommy,” Your mom said in a weak tone. The two made their way back up the stairs and your mom turned to you. “You are going to listen to us and be with this young man.” “But mo-“ “You are going to listen to us.” She cut of your plead. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, holding her forehead in her hand. “This Saturday his family is taking us out for a fancy dinner. You will meet him and we’ll start discussing how we’re going to handle this situation. End of conversation. Now go up to your room.” You hardly even opened your mouth to complain “NOW.” She pointed to the staircase. You held back your fury and shuffled upstairs. Not only have they arranged your future, but also ruined your weekend. You’re favorite band One Direction will be in your town this weekend. And now you have to spend your time with your parent’s view of your ‘future husband’. You had enough anger built to through your laptop at the wall. But Tumblr was the only escape you had to keep your sanity through the night. You changed into your pajama’s and bundled up under your blankets. Scrolling through the dashboard until you found yourself asleep.
