[Sol 31...|]
Jisung felt nothing.
The rover flew through the air, as if in slow motion.
And yet, Jisung felt nothing.
Nothing except a small, monsterous voice, rearing up from the darkest parts of his mind.
That, and an ounce of fear.
Maybe this was how it ended?
If it was, Jisung realized that he wouldn't actually mind. What was he even living for, anyway?
The offhanded hope that NASA would come for him? That his friends cared enough about him to at least mourn? Maybe even enough to try and search for him?
All of that seemed small now.
The point was that Jisung wasn't scared of death. He was almost...longing for it?
Longing for the release that death could bring.
He wouldn't have any responsibilities. He wouldn't have to bear the isolation and pressure that came with his being stranded on the red planet. He wouldn't have to stand such heartbreaking loneliness.
It could all be over in a second. And that's what scared him.
He should be afraid of dying.
He was supposed to be.
And yet, he just wasn't.
He was scared that if these were the kind of thoughts that he had been suppressing, he wouldn't last long enough for NASA to come to get him.
It was just so easy for him to think like that.
So easy for him to give in to the darkest and deepest and oh so forbidden of his desires.
And not exactly forbidden in a fun way, either.
Shaking his head, Jisung tried to focus on the present. The situation before him.
He only had a few seconds before the rover crashed down, crushing him inside it.
What could he do to prevent such an event?
Brain working at the speed of sound, Jisung came to the epiphany that he was all buckled in, so there wasn't much more that he could do.
There were two belts crossing across his chest from either side, as well as one securing his waist. The rover had a secure shell, and shock absorbers just about everywhere, so basically, as long as Jisung just stayed calm and braced himself, nothing should get too seriously hurt.
And so Jisung slid his eyelids closed and just waited. Waited for time to speed up again.
Half a second later, his wish was granted.
He felt the vehicle collide with the ground. Felt the lights go out for a second, until everything was bright again.
Jisung hesitantly opened his eyes, multiple theories already swirling their way into his thoughts.
One: he had died and was seeing the light of purgatory or whatever it was
Or two, the rover landed and still had so much momentum that it rolled over.
And as he pried open his tired eyes, hands clutched, white knuckled around his seatbelt straps, Jisung realized that his second prediction was indeed the correct one.
A cocky grin spread itself across his face as he yelled, to no one in particular,
"Not today, bitch!"
Hell yeah.
He was Han freaking Jisung.
The NASA space program hadn't chosen him for nothing, after all.

Oh wow. Would you look at that. A whole chapter dedicated to a car flipping over.
I am: so sorry
There's like no plot in these. But you can see just how much Jisung is being affected-
