The shrill ringing of my phone alarm startled me awake, breaking the heavy silence of the late morning. As I groggily opened my eyes, I began to realize where I was. Unwillingly uncurling from my comfortable position and pushing off the warm covers, I got myself off the bed and slowly walked towards the balcony, shielding my eyes from the sunlight. I pushed open the glass doors and stepped out to the balcony. A wave of cool air hit me as I slid my hand against the balcony rail. The high balcony provided a good view of the blue mountains beyond the backyard. I lowered my gaze to the garden. The urge to jump from the second floor balcony straight into the sparkling backyard pool was so tempting I could barely restrain myself.

My thoughts were suddenly disrupted by a low growl emitting from my stomach. I then realized that I hadn't even had dinner the night before. Reluctantly retreating back in and closing the glass doors, I went out of the guestroom.

Now to find my way out of this maze, I thought.

After some time of wandering on the second floor, I finally found myself standing at the top of the spiralling staircase. I felt a sudden itch to mount myself onto the banister and slide all the way down. Now that would've been fun. But I stopped myself when I thought Erika would have to pick up whatever bits that were left of my bloody body and airmail them back to LA. They probably wouldn't be very happy to hear about that.

Erika was already in the kitchen. When she turned around and saw me she smiled.

"Did you sleep well, dear?" she asked.

"Yes", I replied. She ushered me into the dining room and sat me down before a feast fit for kings. I looked around. No sign of the panty-dropping sex god since our encounter yesterday. Where was Chris? Doesn't he have school too?

"Chris left early", Erika said, noticing me looking around. "Enjoy your breakfast, dear. Today's your first day of school too."

Westfall High was much bigger than my old school. It looked like a posh academy for the royalty. There was definitely going to be more buzz happening. Erika dropped me off near the parking lot, where two girls seemed to be waiting for us.

As I got out of the car she introduced the one with strawberry blonde hair as Isabelle. Her forget-me-not blue eyes sparkled as she gave me a feminine smile that would've gotten boys drooling in her wake. Then she gestured to the other girl, whom she introduced as Morgan. She had somewhat of a tomboyish look, decked out in black head to toe, but was pretty nonetheless. Her dark clothes brought out her clear flawless skin and hugged her perfect slender figure. She had styled auburn hair and emerald-green eyes. She gave me a boyish smile that implicated trouble. Even her motorbike gloves seemingly made her look even more girly.

Both of them looked so perfect I felt like scruffy Cinderella in rags standing next to her stepsisters ready for the ball, with my plain brown eyes and waist length wavy brown hair.

"Well, I hope you'll all make friends, and Lorelei can move in with you girls just after school starts." Erika clapped her hands together and smiled. Then she drove off, leaving me to feel sorry for myself.

"Lorelei, huh?" Morgan mused. "That's a beautiful name", said Isabelle, beaming at me. I gave her a weak smile.

"Thanks." Too bad my looks couldn't say the same.

"Come on", Isabelle said, pulling my hand and dragging me towards the entrance. That girl had the strength of ten bulls. "We'll show you around!"
