"how could you do that?! you scared the hell out of me! where did you go?! and why?! i spent days worrying about you! not knowing where you are and if you were ok!", zach yelled.
"i'm sorry, ok?"
"why did you do it? how could you do it? why did you leave me?! it's you and me against the world, remember? do you have any idea how worried i was?!"
"i-..."
you felt a lump in your throat, like you were about to choke and you couldn't speek.
"you what?"
"i- i got scared."
"scared of what?!"
"i got scared of her!"
suddenly his eyes widened
"i got scared of her, ok?!"
you tried so hard not to cry as you continued
"she showed up out of nowhere saying she loves and misses you and that she made a mistake! ugh! i feel like such a failure! cause i know that i failed you",
you scoffed "she gives you everything but i couldn't give it to you. and you've got everything, but i have nothing, here without you. do you have any idea how intimidating that is?! knowing that you're probably gonna pick her."
the both of you stayed silent just staring at each other for about 10 seconds before the television behind zach just switched from mtv to the news channel. he didn't understand why, because the remote control was on the desk beside the tv. he picked the remote and just as he was about switch the tv off, you stopped him, "wait, what's that?"
the television started changing channels every second, it kept glitching and moving between news channels.
***the tv***
"the comet eurydice."
"earth is on a collision course with the comets tail"
"astro debrief, solar radiation"
"ten thousand mile wide electrical storm"
"electrical disturbance all over the world"
"catastrophic"
then the connection died and the tv shut.
we looked at each other for 5 seconds before we ran outside.
the sky quickly turned gray, but not as if it was about to rain, it looked much worse; there where lights in the sky too.
we both got in the car and zach started driving.
the roads and streets were filled with cops, firefighters and ambulances. everyone started panicking.
we were in the car and i tried to look up at the sky, but i couldn't see anything, so i told zach i wanted to go outside.
zach told me not to, but i didn't listen.
i looked at him and then turned around to open the car door, "don't get out of the car-", i opened the door. "y/n don't get out of the car!", i started getting out of the car "y/n wait!", zach came after me.
i looked up at the sky, they were gray. there was a pink long line up there in the center of the sky- the comets trail.
everyone was so scared and in shock, they all panicked.
i had nothing on my mind but zach, and how sorry i was that i lied, that i gave into the fire and let her get to me.
i started walking away from the car and towards the building and he followed me.
there was a mob of people panicking and a cop stopped them from passing.
lucky i was pretty short so i got in front.
suddenly the comet from one piece exploded into a few and was heading our way faster than before.
everyone was so distracted, so i took advantage of the situation and ran pass the cop.
zach couldn't pass, he then decided to walk in the other direction, so he could walk around and be able to get to where y/n was.
someone shot a gun, it hit a window right behind zach.
he suddenly saw y/n running towards a staircase so he ran after her.
i started walking up the stairs with zach following behind me.
i looked down and saw a little girl injured with a firefighter beside her. she was in shock.
the fireman signaled us with his hand to get out of there, so zach and i started running up the stairs.
i looked up, and pointed at the sky, "look" i told zach and so he looked up too, we saw the comet, it exploded again and split into more pieces in the sky, getting closer to earth, and moving faster than before.
while zach was distracted by looking at the sky i opened a door behind us, he suddenly noticed and got in after me.
in the room was a family, sitting there on a couch, absolutely terrified.
we kept on walking and i opened another door, when i opened it there was a flash of light for a really short amount of time, about 5 seconds, i fell back and some of the ceiling in front of me collapsed.
zach was really worried about me, you could see it in his eyes. i got up, opened the door and kept walking.
the room i had just entered was on fire. a small part of the comet pieces hit the building, that room to be more specific. the room was purple and blue, with flames of fire, it was absolutely destroyed.
i kept walking to the next room with zach right behind me.
the room was filled with small screens showing the news and one big screen in the center, showing live satellite footage from out of space, it showed earth and the comet.
both zach and i were shocked from the view.
i couldn't look at it. i turned around and started walking towards the next door, when suddenly, an old crazy man that was sitting there grabbed my hand and started pulling me away from the door, i struggled with releasing my hand, so i pushed him away from me and ran out the door.
zach was about to follow me, when the old man grabbed him. zach pushed him.
suddenly all of the screens turned from news channels and satellite footage, to clocks, counting down from 1 minute and 15 seconds. zach panicked and came running towards my direction. he finally saw me, "are you ok?", zach asked "yeah i'm fine", i replayed, "you?", "yeah, i'm fine too" we smiled, "come on we have to continue", i turned around and kept walking, zach followed.
i walked through a damaged hallway, in shock of the sight and the noise.
then the lights in the building started to flash and flicker, so i started running and so did zach.
we finally got to the last staircase.
i ran up the stairs, zach was about to follow but then the old man from before grabbed him again. "come on, zach!", i shouted, zach pushed the man and he fell.
"hurry!", i rushed him.
we ran up the stairs to the top of the building and got out the door to the roof.
i looked up at the sky in shock. zach came towards me and looked into my watery eyes.
"y/n, i was hurt before, that's why i had nothing to say... but-..., i mean like, it's not that i have nothing to say-... uh, it's just-"
"baby, i don't care that you got hurt in your heart, ok? you mean so much to me and i don't deserve you. you're everything i ever wanted. you're everything i have. but if this is the end, i just need to tell you, i love you."
"i love you too. i don't ever want to lose you. all i want is for you to wake up in my arms every morning, in my bed, home. you told me once that home is not a place, it's a feeling. i hold on to that sentence, and every time i kiss or hug you i feel home. and when you ran away, i was so worried about you; and honestly, i was worried for myself too. i was afraid of never feeling, never being home again."
tears fell down my face, he whipped them and cupped my cheeks, looking into my eyes.
"baby don't cry. i'm right here. it's me and you against the world, remember?" i let out a small laugh and scoffed.
around us was so much noise of sirens, crying, guns, people screaming, but i didn't care. cause i had him with me.
i looked up at the sky, knowing, this is the end, but i wanted to be the one who takes him home, i wanted to be home, in his arms.
"so, one last time, let me take you home."
his face got closer to mine and i attached my lips to his.
he rested his hands on my waist and i warped my arms around his neck, as we kissed passionately, yet softly.
then the comet hit earth.
there was a flash of light.
and that was the very end of everything but our love.
