CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Cassidy's POV
This day has taught me that being rejected hurts as much as getting your heart broken, no matter what the circumstances are. I've experienced it first hand with Alexis. So, I know how Brett feels when Darren walked away from him. I actually felt bad, because this was all my fault. I was the one responsible for Brett's pain because I pushed Darren to go kiss him, just because I wanted revenge. I was even filming the whole thing, which I know is wrong, but my hands never pressed the stop button, not even until Darren was out of sight.
As I shut my phone, Brett collapsed to the ground. I pocketed my phone and went to help him stand up.
"Hey Brett. Come on, stand up." I said, offering a hand.
He stared at me, then at my hand. Almost immediately, his eyes watered.
I panicked.
He's crying! What do I do?
Before I can even react, he abruptly grabbed my hand and stood up, pulling me in a bone crushing hug.
I stood there, feeling shocked while Brett is sobbing into my shoulders. I awkwardly patted his back, opening my mouth then closing it again, not knowing what to say.
"I should have known." he said, then he sobbed. "He would never do that willingly."
I stiffened.
What did he mean? Does he know that that was just a part of Darren and I's previous game? How did he know? Is he mad at me? Is he going to kill me?
My thoughts were interrupted when he pulled away from me, looked me into the eyes sadly and said, "Let's have a deal."
