"Shane! There you are! You were starting to worry us..." Rexton, the boy who has a crush on me, and who I also like, shouted from across the school's campus. I laughed and slowed down into a walk.
"Correction, HE was more worried than all of us put together," Dylan stated, making Rexton scowl at her. I smiled, liking that thought, and finally made it over to everyone.
"Alex, Johnny, Dylan, Hollow, Granger, Dalany, Mexe, Mekka, Blexe, Kameron, Scarlet, Axel, Zike, Claydon, Jexter, Rexton." I greeted every one. Some said hi, some waved, some nodded their head. The usual, I thought to myself.
"Random conversations started taking place around the group. I was really only interested with one in particular. I moved slightly to the right, able to hear more on what Alex, Johnny, and Blexe's conversation. About recent kidnappings in our town. The little town of Red Wood, California.
"You know that one girl from whatshisface's class? Natalia? Yeah, she's gone missing. Since late Friday night. And get this, today, down by the lake, they found her body. In pieces, all scratched and bruised." Blexe said in a low voice.
"Whoa. Seriously? Are you sure?" Johnny was the first to speak. I saw Blexe's head nod in response to the question asked.
"But, how do we know you aren't just making up some idiotic story to impress your girlfriend?" Alex piped up and questioned him.
"Watch the news tonight. Channel 16. 8 PM." He snapped at her. I turned around and began walking to class before I heard a reply from anyone, yet I heard the distant shouts coming from Blexe, with him screaming, "Ouch! Stop hitting me!" I guess Alex slapped him. Awesome, I thought, laughing again.
I was halfway through the school's entrance when a certain statement of another conversation caught my attention. The words, "And then, once the police found her clothes in a garbage bag by the lake, they found a note stapled to her shirt. They don't know what the note said yet, they wouldn't release it to the public." drifted to me.
I knew, right then and there, I had to find out what the note said. And that meant breaking into the police station. This should be fun.
