Chapter Four
The rest of that night seemed to have gone by very quickly, considering the fact that my alarm clock was beeping for me to wake up already. I don’t even remember setting it last night. I don’t even remember getting into my pajamas. I was too busy planning how I would ask Jexter to help me on breaking into the police station to find out what that note said.
A sudden thought occurred to me. A movie night with Alex, Jexter, and me. That would work, right? I guess we would find out.
I got dressed and ready in a flash, not wanting to be late this time. I skipped breakfast, and ran out the door with my backpack in hand. Hellen wasn’t awake yet, I guess, since she didn’t say her usual, “Have a nice day, dear!” I didn’t think anything about it.
I ran down the familiar sidewalk to my school. I was one of the first people there; which is a big surprise, since I’m usually late. I just had to get Alex and Jexter alone. They usually come to school before anyone else. This was my only chance, my only hope.
I sat at our usual table, waiting for them to show up. I checked my watch, 7:44. They usually arrive at 7:45 from what I’ve heard in the past. Well, I think so anyway. With me counting the seconds by, they finally showed up. 7:45 sharp! I smiled when they both had confused looks on their faces.
“Hey guys!” I greeted them when they walked up. They still looked confused…
“Um, hi, Shane?” Jexter was clearly confused.
“Wassup, Shay Shay?” Alex asked, confused as well.
“I was just wondering if you two would like to go to the movies with me tonight. I need some help with something afterwards…” I said. Alex seemed to be catching on. Great!
“Sure. I’m up for it. Jex, what do you think?” Alex looked over at him with a smile on her tanned face.
“Uh… sure. I guess…” He finally said after Alex gave her stare down. I laughed quietly to myself.
“Awesome. I’ll meet you two at the movies tonight… say 10-ish?” I questioned. They both nodded their heads in approval. I smiled again and walked off, planning in my head how the night of events would go. I hoped they would go smoothly, but who am I kidding? With me around, and also planning it all, it would definitely not go smoothly.
