A/N: not a slowburn chapter

Madison needed to find some way to get Zoe out of her head. If she didn't sooner or later, the memories that she had locked away would be unlocked, and she would be overwhelmed with emotions. She couldn't let that happen. If she let her guard down, then everything else would come crashing down with her and she would spiral out of control. It was only recently that she stopped doing drugs, and she controlled herself more. She managed to become strong enough to throw away all of the toxic contents she held in her possession, and she intended to keep it that way.

Zoe would only make her go crazier. She had overheard that they were planning on heading out to a bar, and she needed to make sure that wasn't going to happen. She tossed her articles of clothing to the side of her bed and exited her room with ease. She knew that this feeling inside of her would eventually consume her emotions quickly, and she soon became desperate to find a distraction. The second she turned to head down the stairs, she heard familiar voices inside of the room across from her.

On the other side of the door, Queenie squealed at Zoe's appearance.

"You look so good!" She practically screamed for the fifth time. Zoe flinched a little and held the side of her ear in hopes of drowning out the ringing noise that began to develop.

"Please don't scream again," She begged her friend softly.

"I'm sorry, I just haven't been this excited to go out in a long time," She spoke truthfully. To be honest, Queenie hadn't had much experience in the past with successful parties. The last time she went to one had been so long ago she could barely remember. So to be able to help Zoe take her mind off things while being able to have a great time seemed to be the ultimate package deal to her.

Zoe smoothed out her red dress, and examined herself in the mirror once again.

"Is it too cliche?" Queenie gave her a questioning look while the brunette crossed her arms over her chest.

"I just feel like it's so unoriginal to wear a red dress to a party." The girl next to her rolled her eyes dramatically, and moved to stand in front of her.

"Don't overthink this. You want to wear something that will be able to grab someone's attention, right?" She watched as Queenie forced her to remove her arms from around her chest region so she could properly show off her outfit of the night. Before they could continue their conversation, the door opened suddenly without any type of warning.

Madison entered the room without a second thought, and looked around briefly before her eyes landed on Zoe. The way she looked so elegantly beautiful made her want to do unspeakable things. She wanted to stare at her body for so long that it didn't seem humanely possible. She couldn't even stare at her and admire her for longer than a second or else she would've gotten caught doing so.

"Well it certainly grabbed someone's attention," Queenie muttered under her breath in an attempt to break the tension and awkwardness between the two. Madison tore her eyes off of the insanely attractive girl in front of her and tried to ignore her raging hormones and emotions.

"Where are you going?" She asked calmer than expected. Queenie gave Zoe a look, one that was trying to tell her to not give in. Zoe took this silent advice, and whipped her head back around to face the mirror.

"Why do you care?" This time, Madison rolled her eyes at the stubbornness Zoe Benson still seemed to possess.

"I just don't want you going out to party just to screw up your life." Zoe wanted to retort something insensitive back at her, but the second their eyes connected through the glass of the mirror, she knew what she was referring to. Zoe thought about the last time Madison went out to party, and tried to ignore the sick feeling she started to develop in her stomach just by thinking about it. Men are disgusting.
