The soft trickling of rain against the glass windows made the aftermath of everything even more perfect. When Zoe had agreed to carry Madison upstairs, (which made no sense because she was the drunk one) the mood completely changed. Before it had been needy and urgent, but the second the bedroom door closed, they fell apart together. It wasn't rough and hot makeup sex- in Zoe's mind, it was far from that. She didn't even want to label it as sex. She always considered the term sex to be used during a one night stand, or when you were having a physical connection to someone rather than emotional.
No, they definitely made love.
It was passionate, raw and full of emotion. Just as the blonde laid herself down on the bed and tore off her outfit, small tears revealed itself at the corner of her eyes. Zoe didn't ask why she was tearing up, she just was there for her in every way she needed her to be. She comforted her, and wiped her tears away delicately.
She gave her the time she needed to process everything. This event definitely sobered Zoe up, and it prepared her for the intense night to come. After a couple of minutes of silence and the occasional sniffle, she asked Madison if it was okay for her to continue.
And it was.
And so here they were, skin on skin, their legs entangled together under the covers. Madison's head rested on Zoe's chest comfortably. Zoe had been awake since everything happened, even though Madison collapsed onto her straight after. The brunette felt it was her duty to make sure that Alison didn't walk in or try and ruin the perfect moment, so she stayed up to keep watch.
She glanced over to the clock and read 4:23 AM.
She rubbed her thumb along Madison's shoulder and listened to her soft breathing as her chest rose up and fell down.
Last night was the most unexpected thing to happen to her, but she was glad it did. She didn't know how much longer she would be able to go without speaking to the other girl. The ironic thing was that after what happened downstairs, they didn't do much speaking. Zoe whispered sweet nothings into Madison's ear, but that was about it. Other than that, all they needed was each other's presence.
And they had that. So they were content.
Zoe tried to shift her position a little, but found her movements useless as the girl on her chest stretched her arm out and wrapped it around her waist. She tightened her hold on the brunette in places she had no idea she even had a grip on in the first place.
"Where are you going?" She heard a gentle whisper come out from Madison. She felt her heart flutter happily, like it had the biggest wings in the world.
"I'm not going anywhere," Zoe whispered back.
"Promise?" She asked her hesitantly.
The taller girl nodded her head in confirmation, and pressed a kiss onto Madison's forehead.
"I promise."
—————-
After a bunch of whining and even a couple of bribes, Zoe managed to slip out of Madison's room to get into the bathroom to take a shower. The blonde however, didn't want Zoe to leave her side for even one second. It was a quick change in behavior from the first day she came to where they were now.
Zoe thought about their development from even 6 months ago, and she tried to focus on wrapping herself up properly in her towel. Nevertheless, her thoughts always drifted back to Madison.
A sharp knock brought her out of her own head, and she went to go open the door before the person on the other side opened it first.
Madison entered the bathroom silently, and closed the door behind her. She rested her back on the doorframe, and bit her lip as she watched Zoe dry her hair.
"What's up?" She questioned in the softest tone imaginable.
"Um... nothing," She mumbled almost inaudibly while toeing the carpet she stood on.
The pair stood in comfortable silence for awhile as Zoe dried her hair and took care of other things. Madison had come into the bathroom with sweet intentions, but now that she was with a fully sober Zoe and not an intoxicated one, she felt her confidence falling slowly. She didn't feel uncomfortable around her, but she definitely had no idea what to say.
She wanted to say something.
She just didn't know what.
Zoe glanced over at her briefly, and noticed the hoodie she was wearing belonged to her. She smiled internally, and tried not to show off her proudness too much.
Madison tugged at the drawstrings on the hoodie she wore, and finally lifted her eyes up to look at Zoe's so she could carry a conversation. Before she could even attempt, Alison's voice rang throughout the hallways and bounced off the walls.
This startled Madison slightly, and she took it as her cue to leave. Once her footsteps receded, she bit down on her bottom lip once again before taking a step forward.
"You look beautiful," she spoke shyly.
She leaned towards the brunette and placed a kiss on her cheek lovingly before escaping out of the bathroom.
Zoe's cheeks grew hot as she began to get flustered, and she couldn't help the smile that crept up on her lips.
She grabbed her black dress that she planned on wearing today, but didn't quite manage to get it on her body before Madison barged back into the bathroom.
Well, she thought it was Madison.
"Now I know I did not hear some weird sounds last night while I was trying to get some shut eye," Queenie's loud voice startled Zoe, which resulted in her dropping the dress onto the floor.
"Cause last time I checked," She looked around the bathroom to emphasize her point, "We did not bring Spencer home. So I don't know who you fucked last night, but please, be more considerate next time." Her pupils held signs of exhaustion, and the dark circles under her eyes also proved that she was indeed hungover.
Before Zoe could even get a word out, her friend continued to complain.
"My room? Right next to yours. The walls? Very thin. Put two and two together blondie." She exhaled a dramatic sigh before closing the bathroom door and exiting.
Zoe looked down at her hair, and back up to the mirror to stare at herself.
"I'm not even blonde,"
Before her train of thoughts could finish, Queenie barged into the bathroom yet again.
"Also, Alison said today is like... I dont know, a lazy day. We don't have that much training so we can like wear casual clothes instead of suffocating our bodies in black material."
Zoe nodded in understanding, and expected Queenie to take her loud voice and words out of her face.
"Also, Madison gave me one of your hoodies to give back to you, apparently she-"
Zoe winced internally, and looked in the direction of her friend to wait for realization to hit her. Her eyes darted back and forth in confusion, before they finally settled back onto Zoe.
"Oh... my god... You-"
"Please don't finish that sentence," once her cheeks began to flush, Queenie took the hint and widened her eyes.
"Eewwwww!!! That's nasty! That is so nasty! At 2 am too? Really? Was it really necessary??" Zoe rubbed her forehead with a soft sigh and tuned out her friend's words. Eventually, she managed to push her out of the doorway so she could close the door and lock it.
Never again would she go out with her.
Never again.
