"Ok now I just need the icing.." Danny said as he began to rummage through the pantry, eyes bouncing between items. It was his girlfriend's first birthday away from home and although she said she was fine, he knew better. Being homesick, she wasn't that good at hiding her true feelings so he was going to try and make it the best birthday ever.He had decided to have a go at making her favorite cake. It was her mother's homemade specialty and after a simple phone call, he was messy yet satisfied with how it was going so far. He was set on making the best cake she had ever seen.
He asked the twins to take her out for the afternoon, take her shopping and a nice birthday lunch as him and his best friend set everything up in their living room; Sammy yelling from the living room about where to hang what and how this or that looked.
"I didn't know these had glitter in em!" Sammy yelled with the excitement of a child as he banged two balloons together, glitter swirling around inside.
"Sammy focus please!" He yelled from the kitchen as he began to rip of the foil top of the frosting can. "We have about two more hours to get everything ready, please."
"I think it's nice you're doing this for Rosie," Sammy said as he began to tie the balloons to the leg of the coffee table. "You really picked out a bunch of things that she'd like!"
"I just happen to actually pay attention." He shook his head with a chuckle. He made a list of her tiny favorite things, making sure they were shown in the decorations somehow. He payed close attention for the past couple weeks and reach out to her sister, Steph, making sure everything was to her liking. He walked into the living room, checking in on his best friend's decorating, jaw dropping in awe.
Fairy lights were strung from wall to wall, bundles of balloons in every corner imaginable with the fun disco light ready to go. The speaker was out and ready to blare and a table was out with drinks which without a doubt would be used for an intense game of beer pong later on. A photo station was in the corner for their friends and more.
"Sammy you freaking genius!" He cheered as he hugged him with with a pat on the back.
"I know huh!" He smiled as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jacket, standing back to admire his work. "Hey," He nudged Danny's side and whispered as if anyone else was around, "If the whole music thing flops, think we have a future in party planning?"
"I think we do Sammy." He chuckled as he tsked making his way back to the kitchen, Sammy following.
"Need help with anything else?"
"Not really, I just have to decorate the cake and make it the absolute best." Sammy nodded, understanding as he whipped out his phone, texting friends that everything was good to go.
"She's gonna love it not matter what." He smiled.
"I hope so." He furrowed his brows as he began to frost away, supplies laid out. Sammy chuckled as he went back to the living room, adding the finishing touches, the surprise birthday party was going to be an absolute hit.
