Jaiden woke up the next morning to her ringtone. Gathering up the only energy she had, she grabs the phone and looks at the contact picture. It's a picture of James and her at vidcon.
She smiles at the picture, vidcon was amazing. All that time she had with the crew, but especially James. Those were the memories she wanted to keep forever.
She answers the phone with her best, I've-been-up-for-a-few-hours-voice
Jaiden: H-hello?
James: Nice try, I've done the fake voice too. You didnt get much sleep huh?
Jaiden: *laughs* Okay, you caught me. No, I just couldn't fall asleep
James: Same, I had an awful dream.
Jaiden: R-Realy? What about?
James: Ummmmm. My dog died while uhhh, ummm, scuba diving.
Jaiden: O-Okay?
James: Yea so what time should I head over, its 10 right now.
Jaiden looks at her clock, 10:09am. Crap, she thought, I'm up so late.
Jaiden: Well you can head over now, I'd just be in my pjs. Orrrrr you can give me some time and be here by 10:45 and I'd be dressed
James: What to choose, what to choose.
Jaiden and James both laugh.
James: I'm heading over now, so this is my waaaaaarning
Jaiden: Shoot, then imma get dressed. I'll see ya when you get here. Bye
James: Bye
Jaiden hangs up the phone and quickly gets out of bed. She runs to her dresser and grabs a pair of light blue jeans and a pair of socks. She wouldve showered but that would take too long as James doesn't live too far from her house roughly a 10 minute drive.
Quickly changing into her clothes, she nearly trips while taking off her pajama bottoms. After she changes she runs to the bathroom and brushes her teeth and combs her hair. She looks at herself in the mirror and examines herself. She smiles at herself. Ready to hang out with James. This is going to be epic.
Right on cue she hears a knock on her door. She walks over to the door and looks through the peep hole and sees James making a silly face
What a dork
She opens the door and is instantly hugged by James. She hugs back and snuggles her head into his chest. She always feels this warm, fuzzy feeling in her chest whenever she hugs James. She can smell his fragrance, speed stick and a spritz of Adidas cologne.
His scent
They stand in the door way for a full minute before stepping away from each other. Neither of them wanted to pull away but they cant work while hugging, well they could but that's a different kind of work only after marriage.
Jaiden: Would you like to come inside?
James: I drove all this way to stand here so no thank you.
Jaiden catching the quite obvious sarcasm, rolls her eyes and lets in James. James strolls in and sits on Jaiden's couch and pats the couchin next to him. Jaiden smiles and jumps on the seat next to James, bouncing herself and James up slightly. They both laugh.
James: Have you eaten yet?
Jaiden: No, not yet. I dont have anything to eat, I haven't gone grocery shopping this week yet.
James: Let's just order something on Uber Eats. (#notsponsered)
Jaiden: Okay
James opens turns on his phone revealing his lock screens wallpaper. It's a picture of her and James at vidcon, and the exact picture she uses as his contact photo and her home screen wallpaper. She blushes, and quickly turns. James notices this but ignores it. His home screen is his character carrying Jaidens with a blue heart around them.
In a panic, he quickly taps on the Uber Eats app before Jaiden notices.
James: So we have a McGs, Smaco Bell, Soubway, and a Wack in a Box for our options
Jaiden leans her head on James' shoulder which cause him to slightly blush.
Jaiden: Eh, I've had McGs twice this week so definitely not that.
James: Ok-kay well I had Soubway yesterday
Jaiden: And I'm sure you dont want to spend today in the bathroom so no Smaco Bell
James: So Wack in the Box it is.
James selects their orders and clicks the pay button, Jaiden offers to lay but James' card was already on file so he insisted he paid.
Jaiden: Thank you James, imma repay you for this.
James: Psh it was only $14, I'm sure I wont go homeless
Jaiden: Well even if you did you could always live here
Jaiden realizes what she said and blushes. She looks down before James could notice. James picks up her chin with his finger and looks into her eyes
James: I wouldn't mind
Jaiden blushes even more. Their eyes are both locked in with eachother. James begins to lean forward, Jaiden notices this and leans in as well.
Their lips an inch apart
Scrrrrreeeeeeeeeeech
Jaiden and James both quickly jump back as Ari screeched, the two best friends blush a deep shade of red and Jaiden quickly runs to aid her feathery companion.
Jaiden: *softly to Ari* You are so paying for this later
Ari: screech
Jaiden: Brat
Jaiden puts some food inside Ari's bowl and places Ari in their cage. She sighs and looks inside her living room. James is on his phone patiently waiting for the arrival of his best friend.
Jaiden thinks to herself. I've never been so close to him, yet so far at the same time. This thought brings a small tear to her eyes. She wipes them away and walks back into her living room.
So close yet so far
