Chapter 8 - A favour to ask

Tom's POV

"Hey Jess! What are doing so late at night? It's 11pm."

"I need your help. Can I come in?" Jess gave me a worried look.

I widened the door to my apartment and let Jess inside. I walked over to my TV and switched it off. Before Jess arrived, I was watching a rather intimidating game of soccer. I guess I'll have to finish it later. Good thing I set the TV on recording beforehand. As I walked over to the fridge, I saw Jess staring out into a distance while sitting on my creamy white couch. I have never seen her so distracted in my entire life. She must have something very important on her mind to look that distracted and coming to my house so late at night.

"Hey Jess, would you like something to drink?"

No answer.

"Earth to Jess!"

"Uh..uh..I'll just have some water, thanks." Jess finally snapped back into reality.

I grabbed two glass cups on my kitchen table and filled it up with cold water. I walked over to where Jess was sitting and placed the two cups down. I sat in silence as I waited for Jess to explain. Nothing happened naturally. She still stared into a distance. I don't think she even noticed me when I sat down. Jess picked up her cup and gulped all the water that was in the cup. How didn't she get a brain freeze after that gulp? I wouldn't know.

"Sorry for coming so late at night but I have a favour to ask." Jess finally spoke after sitting a full 5 minutes in silence.

"Ask me anything"

"Well, you know how the gods have been captured? Shadownight came to Erika today telling her where the gods are held captive. He also told her to come alone with no backup or the gods will be eaten by the monsters. Crystal, Max and I think it is a trap and we are going to make a backup, defence group after Erika leaves. The group, I have in mind, is a very strong group, but I think you should come along with us. We need your powers and weapons for extra help. Would you like to join the fight to save the gods?" Jess asked explaining in every detail.

"Sure! Do you have any of specific weapon in mind? From your story, it sounds like you want to know where Erika is when she is on her quest, so you can follow her. You will also need something to hide your tracks so no-one would be able to trace you I presume?"

"That sounds excellent! Bring everything you think is important for this fight. We have about 13 people coming including you and me. It's late. I'm going to go to bed now." Jess stood up and walked towards the door. She was about to leave when she turned around.

"Night, Tom. We are going thirty minutes after Erika leaves tomorrow. Meet at Max's office tomorrow at 6 to organise and discuss some things before I meet her up. Erika won't be leaving until 9 so that gives us plenty of time. Don't pack your weapons yet. Just sleep okay? Night!" Jess closed the door before I even had the chance to say goodbye and oppose for her idea of getting up so early.I didn't need to lock my door as it locked itself automatically so I walked over to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Then I headed off for bed. I lay comfortably in bed thinking about tomorrow's day. Looking over to the side of my bed, it was already 12:06. I shifted to my usual sleeping position which was sleeping half on back and stomach. Soon, I drifted off into deep sleep. 

I didn't need to lock my door as it locked itself automatically so I walked over to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Then I headed off for bed. I lay comfortably in bed thinking about tomorrow's day. Looking over to the side of my bed, it was already 12:06. I shifted to my usual sleeping position which was sleeping half on back and stomach. Soon, I drifted off into deep sleep.

Hey everyone! I'm sorry for not posting for months! I just couldn't be bothered writing and school is getting harder as I advanced into another grade. I hope you aren't mad at me. >.<  I promise to write more often for the next few weeks. Until I start get assignments again anyway. I hoped you liked this chapter. If anyone was going to ship Jessica and Tom, I recommend you stop shipping them now because I have another ship for Jess in mind.
