Chapter 5: The New Unknown

I woke up when my alarm went off and got up and got ready. I went upstairs and found Bryson and Brady at the table. “Good morning are you excited as I am about school Brady? I actually am. Brady, can I ride with you today? Yeah not a problem but do you mind waiting a few minutes after school because I have to talk to the football coach about joining the team.” I told him that was fine and we left for school. We pulled up and parked in the lower part of the parking lot. I was headed to the building when I noticed Jay looking at me. I waved at him and he smiled and winked at me. I walked to the office and got my schedule.

My first class was English with Mr. Scott. My second class was World Geography with Coach Turner. My third class was Health with Mrs. Sanders, which ironically is what Jay had third period as well. My forth class was Algebra 3 with Mr. White. My fifth class was Anatomy with Coach Lumpkin, which Brady and Jay were in the class with me. My last class was P.E with Coach Brown. After school was over I sat on the bleachers waiting for Brady when I saw Jay walking across the court with a couple of his friends. I leaned my head against the wall and closed my eyes. The next thing I heard was Brady calling my name. As we were walking to his car he reminded me, “Bailey don’t forget you need to drive yourself tomorrow that way you can get your parking spot for the sophomore parking lot. When I got home I did my assignments and decided to lay out in the sun by the pool. I put on my bright blue bathing suit and grabbed a towel. I stayed outside for about an hour then cooked supper and went to bed.

The next day I got to school early to pick a good parking spot. I drew number 1014 which was the fourteenth spot in the sophomore lot. The first part of the day went by fast. In third period Jay sat beside me and we passed notes back and forth. I told him I found him very sexy after he wrote one that asked if I liked anyone. After school was over I walked out to my truck. I looked up at the senior lot for Jay’s car. He was leaning on his hood looking at me. I tossed my book bag in the truck and drove out of the sophomore lot. As I passed the senior lot I honked my horn at him and he waved.

A few months went by and it was almost Thanksgiving. I still had a crush on Jay but he wouldn’t ask me out. Jay and I were hanging out in my room one Saturday evening when he started aggravating me about some boy in Health class. I was sitting on my desk stool when he walked over to me. He brushed his hand through my curly hair, “So are you and this Blake guy dating? No.” He kissed my nose then he kissed my lips like he did before and I got weak in the knees. I dropped my head, “are you gonna give Amanda another shot? Maybe, why do you want to ask me out Bailey? Girls don’t ask boys.” He backed up, “is that right? Yeah, everyone knows it’s a boys place to ask a girl out.” He walked backwards and sat on my bed. He smiled as he turned his hat around backwards. “I’m waiting for you to ask me out Bailey.” I sat on my stool and stared at him. “It’s gonna get a little lonely for you.” I thought a few minutes remembering how Sara does Bryson. I stood up and walked over to him, “Want to make a bet?” He leaned up and whispered in my ear, “You will fold and ask me out before I leave. What if you are the one who asks me? That won’t happen, but if it does then you win. What do I win? What do you want?” I thought about it. “I don’t know yet. Okay, but if I win, I want all of you.” I quickly turned around to catch my breath. “Well since we are gonna be a while I think I will get relaxed.” He kicked his shoes off and put his arms behind his head. “Okay, I will make myself comfortable too.” I smiled and started unzipping my shorts. He rolled over on his stomach and put his head in my pillow and screamed. He turned back over, “you wouldn’t dare get undressed.” I slid my shorts off and stood in my panties and bra in front of him. “Blue is my favorite color too.” I pretended to take my bra off and he adjusted himself on the bed. “Do, you want to see me naked?” He nodded his head, “Not without asking me out.” I grabbed some clothes out of my closet and went to my bathroom to get dressed. I walked out, “do you want something to drink? Yes please.” I came back with some drinks and some chips. We sat on my bed talking about each other. I couldn’t help myself; I leaned in to him and kissed him. “Bailey, are you fixing to cave in?” I put my finger over his mouth. “Jay, would you.........do me……..the honor of……..staying the night over here. Jay pulled me in close to him, “I would only spend the night with you if we were going out and since we don’t go out…..I guess I can’t.” I propped up on my elbow, “well if you would go ahead and ask me out then you won’t have to worry about it.” He smiled and pulled me down for a kiss. “I guess I can sleep next to you for tonight.” He stood up and took his shoes off, I pulled my covers down, we got in the bed and he held me while I went to sleep.
